Victrix does two boxes of austrians…

and

Am I right in thinking the only difference between the two boxes is the headgear?

Marcus Maximus11 Feb 2014 8:42 a.m. PST

Correct. Why the question? As I have all their Austrian box sets…and can help out with questions on the box sets if you require it. ;)

Mike

Yes, Victrix do that a lot, it's the same with their British boxed sets

I personally cannot speak highly enough of the Plastic Perry Austrian Infantry, which come with a choice of three heads, Helmet, Shako and Corse-Hut – with enough heads to do the whole box in the hat of your choice.

I've recently done some Austrian Landwehr, my first attempt at Austrians and unfortunately I think I might find myself doing a lot more

It depends what you want, the Perry figures are only in marching poses, where I'm sure the Victrix have many other poses

Thanks

There are four boxes and the only difference is the head gear, that aside they are brilliant figures.

The Victrix sets are good value plus you get a mounted officer in the box. Perry are easier to build and you get a lot of heads for the spares box.

thanks, just wandering cos I thought I heard each set had both, but perhaps that was the perry set they referred to.

Looking at the two boxes, I see a difference in headgear, coattails, epaulets. Probably other gear.

At the risk of hijacking the thread – does anybody know if the Perry plastic Austrians and the Victrix Austrian Grenadiers are a good match?

Crucible Orc11 Feb 2014 5:03 p.m. PST

bandolier, i have often pondered that very same question. hopefully somone will reply.

Not the Grenadier box, but here are some scans comparing the Perry (gray) with the Victrix (the cream colured plastic won't scan very well).
Height wise the bodies are almost the same. The Victrix heads are slightly beefier, especialy the Landwehr Corsehuts.
