I finally played our first game of TSATF with our 54mm NWF collection.

Ah! Good old Lt Rigby.

I enjoyed your AAR, especially the photos of your metal and plastic figure collections.

How did you find moving all those individual figures? Did it slow down the game appreciably?

I have some of the Armies in Plastic Afghan warriors based individually on metal washers, but am considering constructing multiple-figure wood and magnet movement stands to help speed up the game.

Perhaps it isn't necessary?

Great AAR! Really enjoying your blog.

Thanks for the comments.

dB – we didn't find moving the figures individually a problem – to be honest, stuff didn't move that far as the British stopped for form a firing line th moment the Afghans appeared.

In the future we might try playing with half-size units and have more units on the table. I have the space to run an 8 x 6 table which would give more options – just need to build more scenery first!

That's great! thumbs up I have been buying up figs for the same project in 54mm. I need some artillery. I think this is a great scale for doing the NWF.

Thanks,

John

As Mike's opponent let me belatedly add that it was indeed a great game, so much so that I ordered (and have just received) the special NWF card deck from Patrick of TVAG. I last played this scenario over 30 years ago with Jacklex 20mm figures, but am now a 54mm convert. Mike did a great job with the scenery and painting my Brits. Oh, and moving the figures individually was no hardship-I didn't feel the pace of the game suffered in any way.

Gentlemen,
Having been in winter quarters since 1999, yes that's right. I am now able to go on active service on the North-West Frontier with my army of Trophy toy soldiers . Here we are, and there in no one at home! Now I know how Rip Van winkle felt :(

Lt. Rigby?! I think I know his wife, Eleanor. We met while picking up rice in a church where a wedding had been.
