"Frank Gartz's best friend, Frank Von Arx, writes to him from his post in the Aleutian Islands, Alaska. Besides the usual wry humor, this letter contains little-known information about the World War II Japanese invasion of the Aleutian Islands, Alaska. It was the first time the Japanese had invaded American soil since the War of 1812. I had known nothing about the battles of Attu and Kisku before reading this letter and looking into the history. Frank Von Arx praises the 11th squadron, which battled the Japanese in Alaska (see featured image of some of the men.) Not being 'un-nice', just a comment on the original blogger's choice of words. At least she's not a professional reporter, I wouldn't expect any better from them, in this case it's just humorous. |

Technically the statement is absolutely correct! Whether or not the Japanese invaded before or during the War of 1812, does not matter. They did not invade afterwards either. At least up until early WWII. Therefore, they did not invade since the ACW, the Spanish American War, the Philippine American War or WWI. |
