Nice – but they need fins. Vargr ships traditionally look like predators.

I have his Hiigaran ships and they are great!

Called Vaygr not Vargr. EDIT Didn't mean to sound terse! grin

Ships look very sleek! I like them a lot!

I think you were thinking Traveller, Brian. these are from Homeworld 2, the PC video game.

Brian Smaller10 Feb 2014 4:11 p.m. PST

Oh – didn't notice that – I was thinking Traveller. Still needs fins in my opinion. And more chrome.

Wolfprophet10 Feb 2014 5:21 p.m. PST

I suddenly want to play Homeworld 2 again, but my computer doesn't like to run it anymore. Slightly incompatible. So sad.

@Wolfprophet – looks like you might get a chance soon enough.

Windows will usually run most thing if you set the compatibility settings right. I don't think I have tried Homeworld yet.

Of course now we know who to contact about getting the rights to make a homeworld based table top game… Now were did I put that spare half a million I had laying around…

emckinney10 Feb 2014 10:26 p.m. PST

They need to be Vargr.

Thanks for your comments and interest guys.

Things are progressing nicely, printable CAD is complete for 4 of the remaining 8 ships in the Vaygr wave 1 release. and if the Kickstarter does go a bit mad we do have design concepts ready for another 40 ships as stretch goals

I love my giant FATC Hiigaran fleet, so I am in!

FATC Tim11 Feb 2014 8:47 a.m. PST

@Warlock

Have you got any pictures that you can put up?

Only Warlock11 Feb 2014 8:54 a.m. PST

None of my painted stuff handy. I have some of my based and scale pics along with one of the ships I modified as a deep range scout. Gimme a sec..

Here are the Hiigaran unpainted with some Firestorm Armada ships for scale:

These are all using my "standard" custom bases, FYI.

Is there a link to the kickstarter yet?

You may run into problems with your copies now that Homeworld games are in active development again. So try to keep a low profile.

Actually, I think the gearbox guys, who own the IP outright, would be fine with a miniatures game. They, after all, gave the Homeworld license free to the Hardware: Shipbreakers team, which is now the Homeworld: Shipbreakers game.

I don't like these miniatures, they're a bit too simple, like he merely exported the low res models from homeworld, without adding all the extra implied detail that the textures had. Things like extra greebles, panel lines, etc. It puts too much onus on the player to have to paint in all those aspects freehand.

There's a lot of extra detail that would make it through printing or CNC.

Given my experience with FATC Hiigaran ships I expect the release versions will be awesome and be worth more than I pay. I picked up a Hiigaran Fleet box and it was one of the best spaceship purchases I ever made.

These are painted by someone else, but fantastic:
