link Also known as the next stage in our attempt at ancient world domination. Or at least it would be, if Blogger could spell 'campaign'! |

Well done Paul! It can't be very often that a campaign gets finished, especially one like this! Simon |

Great stuff but you could try the History of the World map! |

Hagenthedwarf is right, there are plenty of others out there – I just happened to find a version of this one on a Rome Total War forum and quite liked it. Mainly because of fond memories of the game
the map just felt right. Purely subjective! |

Yes, I was about to comment on all of the RTW-like problems with a map set in 150 BC – quite a number of those places either didn't exist then or were completely outshone by other cities at the time. Palmyra and Hatra and cases in point. That said, it's good to see a thoughtful game generation process. Nicely done. |

Thanks, Harry, I know exactly what you mean. I just don't want to muck about with provincial boundaries and place names too much. If any of the players even notices, I'll just say it's the most famous city in that region, or something. Apart from the citadels, the names don't really matter very much. The one I will replace at some point is Seleucia (Ctesiphon). I know they existed side by side, but all that really matters for game purposes is that a settlement of sorts is noted. In fact, apart from the named citadels and capitals of major powers, the majority of cities play no real part in the game, since it's primarily meant to be a generator for tabletop games. I'd be surprised if anyone bothers, though – our lot are pretty relaxed about that sort of thing. |
