Has anyone ever used a really large armored tank as a terrain item, as for moving across it's decks or fighting on, like a really large landship of sorts, or a mobile refinery or mobile mining rig as well

I have not, but I have toyed with, on and off, a zeppelin boarding action which would play on the top surface of the zep, a al "Crimson Skies." I think that would be just about doable.

darthfozzywig06 Feb 2014 3:50 p.m. PST

Not personally. In the original Rogue Trader rulebook, they suggested a scenario where the entire table was the top of a city-crushing juggernaut tank, complete with turrets/gunports and defenders emerging from hatches to fight off the attackers.

Jakse37506 Feb 2014 3:53 p.m. PST

yes, it was a long time ago at a con in Akron Ohio. The forces were made up of 6mm space marine tanks and infantry mixed with other proxies including mega-force vehicles. They used a large scale ww1 era tank as a terrain feature. It was half embedded into a mt or something. Supposed to be a "city smasher" tank.

Maddaz11106 Feb 2014 4:59 p.m. PST

I have …

I am now going to build one again, using an action man tank, with added greeblies.

It will be over two foot by one foot, and tower over the twenty eight mm troopers, and the large tanks on the, table.

Sergeant Paper06 Feb 2014 4:59 p.m. PST

Yes, I've read GASLIGHT AARs that describe such actions, on the Yahoo Group.

War Monkey06 Feb 2014 7:21 p.m. PST

A "City Smasher" I like the sound of that.

I saw a site where they were talking about and posting some picture of what they were doing and they quite in indeed dwarf their 28s, and I just thought how fun it would be to do something on the same lines for 15s.

So now I'm toying with the idea of either a super combat tank, a rolling command center, a refinary or a mining rig

haywire06 Feb 2014 7:48 p.m. PST

Not a tank, but DP9 had links for a landship and a gateship.

@Haywire
That is really nice, and on somewhat of where I am going with this, I'm think of something with more playing levels, but that is for sure a great start.

My idea was a Dune spice harvester, same effect. Still hasn't got beyond an idea though.

That Forged in Battle one is rather cool, but the price is out of my range for now, but still really nice

I always liked the Ratte … some one said they were doing one in 6mm … I think I'd like one … for my 6mm Sci-fi forces …

Unrepentant Werewolf 207 Feb 2014 12:15 p.m. PST

Leland is right, for super tank think 'Bolo'!

Kev134007 Feb 2014 1:32 p.m. PST

Yeah, the Ratte is cool! Pendraken Miniatures are releasing one in 10mm scale … It is about 24cm long! And much more reasonably priced too!

@ DarthFozzy

I miss the Rogue Trader era so much.

But who said their company was doing a 6mm RATTE ? huh?

War Monkey08 Feb 2014 10:54 a.m. PST

Okay here is a concept, that can be done in sections for easier moving and storage plus one could use section individually, moving across the terrain as one unit then breaks down to smaller units and fan out to crush their enemies

add a landing pad for shuttles and such, and railings

War monkey: that looks astonishing.

I can just imagine the track units either side of the main hull sections being detachable to allow movement through confined spaces, bridges etc.

Okay something like this would be great for any gaming table and looks like it could be made rather easy

The old 25mm GZG Leviathan would be my choice, the thing is just huge even in 25mm scale.

Don't forget the Super Large Fuel Truck that you will need to follow it…

Borathan10 Feb 2014 6:46 a.m. PST

Didn't do it with a tank, but a friend of mine did have a giant citymech he'd put together for a dragonmech campaign…or at least parts of it that were used.

Lfseeney10 Feb 2014 6:09 p.m. PST

I like this one link

From the guy with the city above he has some nice tank and aps designs.

MrAverage10 Feb 2014 7:55 p.m. PST

One of my own designs, from my webcomic:

That Leviathan would be stupendous as a 6mm scale BOLO design!
