I am almost certain that the Berlin American NATO contingent had this combiniation, yet I cannot find proof. Can anyone support me on this? |

I know they had M-60s, since I've seen one in a digital camo, of green and brown, which was apparently experimental, and not the usual gray, white, black, one would expect in a city. You guessed it, irregular, pixelated camo, which appeared to me to be pretty much mainly green with some medium (milk-chocolate brown). Only saw the front, so couldn't tell if there were other colors, or black. Try googling for images under some of the above, and you may find what you seek. |

I don't think the Berlin Brigade ever had M1s or Bradleys. Why put your state of the art combat vehicles in a position to be captured as soon as the war starts? |

Mako, It was called Dual-Tex and was on trial for a relatively short time in the late 1970s (and not just in Berlin). It was scrapped shortly afterwards, being replaced for a time by another trial scheme called MASSTER, before they finally settled on MERDC and then NATO three-colour:
Back to the subject
I've only ever found M60 and M113 variants being used in Berlin. Similarly the British never deployed Challenger or Warrior there. |

Ah, thanks for the info Mark. I'd only seen the pic of the M113, from the front, and another of an M60 I think, from the front as well. It is an interesting looking pattern, but seems to work well from a distance, especially under tree coverage. |

When I was there in the early 80s their vehicles were all painted in OD, they were expected to always look good and were rubbed with baby oil to make the paint pop. |

In around 91 or 92 if I remember correctly, part of the Berlin Brigade was at Graf for Gunnery. They were in the NATO three-color camouflage. I remember, because we had never seen such clean vehicles in our life's. Took a look at the vehicles up close, and they had Berlin Brigade bumper numbers. And yes M-60--A3's and M113A2. |

Regarding Dual-Tex, im pretty sure only 2nd ACR had that as a pilot program, thus i dont think the Berlin Brigade had it. Brits in Berlin had their cool block camo however |

I was in the Berlin Brigade from late '79 through '81 and all vehicles were still painted olive drab at that point (M113's. M60A1's, M109's and softskins) |

Also just to clarify the MASSTER camo came out in the early 70's and was the first test camo. This was followed in '73 by MERDC which spawned the Dual Texture/ DualTex which was an experimental variant of MERDC. This was used on 2ARC from 1978 to '85. |
