Here are the ruins we've just finished. They are a mix of Hirst Arts Temple Entrance [Thanks Naloomi], aquarium decor, Renedra ridge tents and good ole 1/35 brick sets that lingered too long.
Painted by base coating dark brown and dry brushing 2 shades of Americana craft paint sand. And the a big thanks to the painting crew, Thing 1 and Thing 2;

Nice job! Are the statues with the pillars on each side the Hirst items? |

Looks like you have a great painting crew. Very good job on the shading. I picked up a bunch of the same stuff when it was on sale at Petco. Filled a shopping cart with the stuff. A women in line behind me commented on all the items I had and asked how big my aquarium was? I told her it was 10 feet by 6 feet. She seemed in shock and spoke no more. |

The large seated Pharaoh with pillars on wither side are aquarium decor i got at walmart for $12 USD a pop. My local walmart still had one as of last week. They have fantastic detail that you have to get really close to see. It is resin or plastic and took spray enamel well. They are hollow as can be seen at the bottom of the wip pic where they are seen laid down. |

Oddball, I missed out on the stuff at Petco but long admired it. Those triple columns were huge as I recall. I've been dragging my feet about getting the Asian ruins Petco now has. I forgot to mention the cliff/hill has carved from foam by my older brother. |

How did you get your Things to work on scenery? Mine never want to do any of the painting or terrain building, just playing with them. Nice looking stuff. I especially like the giant Tut head emerging from the sands. |

Nifty stuff! I especially like the Pharoah head emerging from the sands. Is that also PetCo? |

I believe I got the Pharaoh head at Walmart as well, though I haven't seen one in awhile. |

Womak, my Things love to paint and I just help them. |

I've got most of the same aquarium pieces. I like what you've done with them. I'd been reluctant to repaint them, but I think you've got the right idea – and I have those craft paints as well. Wyatt |

Very atmospheric terrain – good find. |

Okay. Thanks for the reply, Amalric. Wouldn't hurt me to look at the local PetCo though. |

Looking good. Thumbs up for the kiddie labor in your sweatshop too! |

Me likey, those temple entrances are great ( pity we canot get them here in my country). Can't wait to see them in use. What rules are you using Pulp Alley? GASLIGHT? LOL your minions look happy too, I'm sure their food rations are as good as the original pyramid builders ;-) Cheers and happy gaming |

Thank you for all the kind words. FYI, the sitting Pharaoh pieces are fragile, one took a swan dive onto the kitchen floor. Luckily superglue works well on it. Zargon, I'm using Pulp Alley and Larger than Life. |

I am salivating! Dan PS. If only someone would make such pieces for 15mm. |
WarWizard | 05 Feb 2014 9:45 a.m. PST |
This would be great for Napoleon in Egypt also. |

Dan, none of the pieces are scale specific. They will just look that much more monumental for 15mm figs. Deep in the trackless wastes in the desert West of Karnak, is supposed to lie the Well of the Gods. A fabled place of legend where a man can find Wealth untold and the secret to everlasting life. But stories also tell that the Gods of the Well are fickle and cruel. How do men of science find out the answers? By finding the Well and seeing for themselves. The well as first seen by Prof. Hofstedder's expedition, merely a ruin with no sign of any Gods. Any statuary having been looted or destroyed long ago.
But wait, what is happening? Quick take a picture!
What is that thing? Arggggggggggggggg
.
Well I found where my sand colored board was stashed and took these quick pics of the well I made from a CDRom, blue foam and some Hirst left overs. There is enough room in the well for a 1" round base to be placed making it good for cover. The center pedestal I left open for whatever, if anything, is required by the scenario or more likely because i didnt have anything suitable for an Egyptian Fountain. |

That looks awesome! You could also put something Egyptian-ish/Alien like this on the pedestal:
