Hi all,

I got into the Bones Miniatures Kickstarter and have now 200 miniatures to paint. While painting away I thought it might be useful for some to write reviews for all the minis I finish, as the Reaper Website not always has painted examples or any information about mold lines flash etc. I am also happy to get some feedback on the reviews and constructive criticism.

So far you find only two reviews on my blog: Freja Fangbreaker and Anirion wood elf wizard, but I plan to frequently post new content.

Apart from reviews you also find some dungeon crawl related tutorials and assorted other stuff on my blog.

Thank you for your feedback gentleman. I hope to finish the next miniature this week. I really love the Bones minis :).

There is also a nice review of Bones miniatures in general following this link: victoriaminiatures.info/painting-my-first-reaper-bones-miniature/#more-272 The painter is very talented and it really shows what one can get out of a Bones miniature.

I added a new review today. We digress from elfish stuff and go back to dwarves and have a look at Bailey Silverbell, a female dwarven thief.

Greetings,

I finally came around to finish my favourite Bones miniature: Gandwarf. The miniature is just beautiful and a pleasure to paint. I thought I add some simple free hand designs on the hat band and his robe.

In dungeons deep and mountains cold, only death they found, deprived of gold.

More pictures, a review of the miniature and a list of the colours used you find as always on my Blog following this

Great work!

I've been having a problem with my Bones…do you prime yours at all? I use brush-on primer from Vallejo, but it seems to obscure the detail once a couple of layers of paint are added.

Hi,

thank you for your comment. I do not prime the Bones at all. I just apply a slightly thinned basecoat (so not quite out of the bottle, but also not painting consistency, just in between) This way you won't get beading and the first coat actually sticks nevertheless.
You need to wash your miniatures, however, as sometimes the residue causes some trouble. I never had the problem of details being covered, but after the first coat (and it it is really only one coat)I use the paint in a 1:5 paint/water solution, so the layers are in any case rather thin.
