After solo playing a couple of CoC games to grasp the rules a bit, I moderated our local wargaming group's first game where we played the generic Patrol scenario in 15mm. Here is a link to the posting on my blog. link Only Part 1 is posted so far since we didn't finish the game in our first evening. My nose was in the rulebook a lot and I expect the game to move faster as we pick up on the game system. We plan to finish the game on another evening soon and then I'll post Part 2, the conclusion. I had the same experience-- a great game but our first few never got near being done in an evening. I can see how it would speed up a lot with familiarity, though. |

Yeah, it's fast after a few games. We've played a lot though but 2 hours is about the maximum a game takes after practice. |

A couple of hours seems normal. A fast game just 90 minutes. |

I think things do speed up as things become more familiar alright

Nice work. I'm also looking forward to Part II. We've played a couple of games ourselves and we're thoroughly enjoying it. A minor point, but check out the Shock rules on page 63. I think your German LMG team should have Broken as it has more than twice as much shock as surviving men. |

You should always buy a german adjutant. This allows the senior leader to get on asap. You can't waste those 4's! |

Thanks to all for your comments! Nice to know a scenario should play in about 2 hours after we pick up on the rules. :-) Xhequimunqui2 – If I interpret rule 14.1 right, the 1-man German LMG Team can "share" it's 4 shock with the 6-man Rifle Team since it is within 4 inches. So the 4 shock can be spread among 8 men including the JL, making the LMG Team not even pinned. But the Rifle Team better not move away or the LMG Team will instantly break! It's good you pointed this out and I've added an explanation note in the AAR. Schoie88 – Good point about the adjutant. For this first game I wanted both sides to have the same limitations for Senior Leadership. I see your point about the adjutant freeing up the lone Senior Leader if you are playing German. But unless you only have 1 support point left to spend, wouldn't you be better to spend another support point and get a second Senior Leader that you can deploy? We're planning to resume with Part 2 this Thursday. – Gary |
