Anybody heard of this game? link I was just scanning the Palladium site and rana cross this posting. Does anybody know what scale its in? I'd be surprised if its 1/285 or 1/300, that would mean it's compatible with Battletech and I can hardly see Palladium being that kind to that franchise. |

The kickstarter ended last May. It is supposed to be 1/285th. Supposed to come out this summer. |

The game is in 1/285th scale. It was a Kickstarter so you can look it up there and take a gander at all the models that will be coming out. |

The figures are larger than the original BT ones, a Valkyrie stands about 45mm high I believe. Latest is that the game is shipping in two waves, with the first wave shipping to ks backers in July, followed by retailers. Wave 2 is aiming for October this year. I went in pretty deep with this as I grew up on the original Robotech series in Australia. I've a suspicion the actual rules may be so-so, but there are plenty of alternatives out there. |

McWong73, I playtested a few games, the rules are pretty decent actually, some of them are a bit wonky and I will probably house rule over. Like shooting down incoming missiles is all or nothing, it didn't really work to me. But still, they may have made adjustments. |

I'll also chime in that the scale is 1/285. However, be cautioned that the dimensions used to establish that are from the Robotech data. So a Battletech stinger (which was scaled to be a 20 (25?) ton mech will likely be much smaller than a Robotech Valkyrie that it is marginally based on. The Valk will be about the same size as the Warhammer analogue from RRT that could stand in for a 75 tonner in BT. |

I went a bit nuts on that KS. Minis are 1/285 and scaled to the Macross/Robotech 'official' stats. This makes them quite a bit bigger than their Battletech counterparts. For example:
Those are 3d Printed prototypes, so they're a bit rough. However, that does show the actual size. Those are 40mm bases that the bots are standing on. another scale pic, again with 3d prototypes, not production models:
40mm bases for the Valk and 'Warhammer', 50mm bases for the Female armor flanking them. |

Looking forward to this. Despite my aversion to KS I pledged, spending more than I intended but less than I wanted. |
McWong73 | 03 Feb 2014 2:15 p.m. PST |
Glenn, thanks for that. Are the rules able to handle the hundred odd figures I'm getting or is it aimed at a low figure count on the table? |
Sargonarhes | 03 Feb 2014 4:38 p.m. PST |
They'll have to be big when you think about if they ever get around to making the Invid and Cyclones how small those will be. Then watch the shock of Zentradei players as some of their powerfulest mecha (Queadlunn-Rau) are taken down by something less than half it's size (Invid Gosu or a Royal Command Battloid). Queadlunn-Rau 18.8m 35.8 tons Gosu 8.75m 28 tons |

RDF would be maybe 15-20, Zens more like 40 or so. The Zen Regults can actually respawn though

This is actually rather intriguing, despite my general aversion to anime-type IPs. Do we know if fighters/Veritechs (right universe, right??) will be available, with models? Edit: Derrp. Should have looked at the page. For those prices, I'm actually intrigued. |

For better or worse, the Valks don't transform (I have a 1/100 valk that does). I don't think it's a deal-killer, but it does make the Valks a bit pricier than you'd initially expect. |
McWong73 | 03 Feb 2014 9:00 p.m. PST |
The Valks come with three models, each for the three different modes. Glenn, again thanks. Can the rules handle larger games, say thirty or fifty RDF units vs, say, 70 to 100 zent units? Once the KS ships I expect you'll find plenty of the models hitting Ebay. I personally backed for a lot more than I'll need. |
SouthernPhantom | 04 Feb 2014 8:05 a.m. PST |
Seeing as it looks like you can get into this for under $200 USD (starter box plus another box or two), I really think I should buy some before college. |

Can the rules handle larger games, say thirty or fifty RDF units vs, say, 70 to 100 zent units? Since each model has multiple hits and it's own statcard (like WarmaHordes), ~30 RDF models vs 70 Zents is probably close to the upper limit for what the game can handle before bogging horribly. I sure wouldn't want to start out at that scale of play. |

Any new info on release date? |
Lion in the Stars | 11 Feb 2014 9:49 a.m. PST |
It's slipped pretty badly, largely due to the insane amount of stretch goals. Currently looks like May or June for KS backers (two waves of KS shipping) and a GenCon release for the retail product. |

It has been 12 months since playtesting started and it will be another six before wave 1 is in hand. Crossing my fingers that this KS does not slip again and that some of the less intuitive rules have been revised for the better. |
