Well, I made it past 30 days without a cigg., so rewarding myself with an order to Aventine. I have admired their EIR for well over 18 months and decided to build a legion. My first order is for 56 troops, legionaires, 2 16 man cohorts and 1 24 man cohort along with LBMS transfers. Hope to have them next week! I can not remember when I have been this excited. These figures are an investment so will build 3 cohorts or so at a time.

Good for you, I will be delving into their Republican Romans myself after I complete my Celtic Army in about two weeks.

Well done making 30 days, that's no small accomplishment!

IMO, good choice picking Aventine for the reward, too, I love their figs I have.

Coincidentally, I am also painting some Aventines – Successor period Thracians – for a mate. This is the first time I've ever painted any of their figures (humans, that is; I have several dead nellies!) and I have to say that I'm really enjoying them. The command figure is simply gorgeous, and I'm struggling to do them justice. I'd love to get into their Early Imperial Romans too. One day…

Razuse you deserve them if you can do 30 days, you can do 30 years. I am now 7 1/2 years. Think of the armies you will have by this time next year. We'll done!

I might buy one or two packs myself! Paul; the Imperials are very addictive be careful or you'll end up with a full Legion.

The EIR figures may be the nicest miniatures I've ever seen. I wish I had time to work on them. I got a unit of Equites Singulares painted. Stunning.

I can't wait to see how the Parthians turn out.

Very well done, am failing at quitting myself. The new price in Australia of twenty bucks a pack is helping a lot.

Aventine are the best news I have had since I got rid of my unpainted Foundry figures…

Very few have this scale in my area but I will buy some to paint up eventually. Trajanic Rome is one of my all time favorite periods. Aventine are truly awesome figures.

For 15mm I prefer Corvus Belli and AB.

I am building a few EIR cohorts myself. I plan to make them one of my wings for Hail Caesar. The other two are Warlord. They really are lovely figures. I am thinking about investing in a couple of their Elleis to go with my Old Glory elephants but have not taken that step just yet.

I received my Aventine order yesterday…..I still can't believe the quality of the minis (EUR range)
They are the finest 28mm ancients I've ever seen!. Also, the customer service and speed of delivery is outstanding. The only downside to the whole process is my lead mountain just got considerably larger…

I now have 7 cohorts painted and I'm starting on the Auxiliary cohorts. I use Vallejo natural steel as the base coat, then wash with "p3" Armour wash, this method saves a lot of time and looks fantastic! You can admire them or laugh and giggle at them over on the Aventine Gallery! Without a doubt these are some of the best mini's ever made.
