Looks very nice, but I´d redo the sign. It says "Hält", but it should say "Halt" (i.e. "stop") – the additional points over the A changes both the pronounciation and the meaning of the word. Halt! = Stop Hält, as used in "er/sie/es hält" = "he/she/it is stopping" ;) |

Thanks Black Guardian
ironically the two dots above the a are burned into the sign
so I thought it was legit ;-) I'll be fixing that ASAP! :-) |

The only thing worse than apostrophe abuse is umlaut abuse. Just say nö. |

It is a nice checkpoint, though. |

lol
I'll never use another umlaut in my life again ;-) |

I don't think that tank is going to read the sign

Interestingly enough, "nö" is a legil phrase in colloquial german and actually does mean "no" :D But we really do have a difficult language that makes no sense for any foreigner ^^ |

"But we really do have a difficult language that makes no sense for any foreigner ^^" I hear ya there
although I imagine English is daunting to anyone who hasn't grown up with it ;-) Thanks all! |

to be precise, Halt = 2d person imperative Hält = 3rd person singular Did you make the pole yourself, or is it a cast mini? Looks very nice. And, speaking of the difference between English and German, there is no simple modern English equivalent for the German word for this kind of pole barrier: Schlagbaum. So German takes the score in this case for simpler, faster language. |

Thanks tuscaloosa! The set is from 4Ground – product link: link The base I used is from Rendra. I used a 40mm round for the shack, and the large oval for the road (cut down the long sides to fit in with the road). |

Imho it isn't an Umlaut but just the nails to fix the board to the pole |
