I'm building an force (roughly) around Marmont's VI corps in 1813 with supporting elements from II Cavalry Corps. I'm using mostly Perry and Victrix plastics and Perry and Calpe metals for the foot and artillery, and Perry and some old Foundry for the II Cav Corps heavies/dragoons and light cavalry. Scott Bowden has the 2nd and 4th Wurtemburg Cheaveulegers making up VI corps cavalry brigade.. I can't seem to find any good quality miniatures for these guys
There is a link on TMP, but it basically says wait for Perry to get around to it. I would also like to get hold of a Wurtemburg Horse Artillery battery. My foundry cavalry have been in the pile for ages, so I want to use them, even if they are too small to mix it with the Perrys (they look fine on the table if I keep them as lights), but I'm at a loss what to use for the Wurtemburgers
It there a conversion that works? Or more obscure sculpts that are recommended? I want them to stand alongside my Perrys, if possible. I also enjoy painting – so prefer to invest my time in nice figures if I can get them. |

Yes, I find Front Rank figures a bit less inspiring – not so much character, but its a last resort. |

Perry dragoons with new green stuff sashes and some scraping of the helmets/green stuff insignia might do in a pinch, but that might be a bit too much work. Officer and standard bearer would need a helmet modification too. |

I've never bought any Connaisseur miniatures – I realise they are getting on a bit, but they had a very fine reputation in the past, and they do Wurttemburgers too. Any reports? |

I have used Front Rank for most of my Wurttemberg army and I think they are excellent figures. They do nice horse artillery too. The newer sculpting style is a treat to paint. For an obscure choice, if you can get hold of the former Newline 28mm napoleonic Wurttemberg range they are pretty good too. Another company took over the range a few years ago but nothing has been released. PS. My understanding is that the Wurttemberg cavalry regts are numbered 1-5. 1&2 being chevaulegers, 3&4 being chasseurs/Jäger zu Pferd. 5th were dragoons. |

Bandolier, Many thanks – yes I have quite a lot of Front Rank WSS sculpts, and while they are excellently detailed and easy to paint, somehow they look a bit wooden and cartoony
especially the horses. But it might just be personal taste. Also the guns seem to be about a 1/3 larger than other manufacturers (my WSS Front Rank guns dwarf my Perry Napoleonic guns
I really want some Westphalia guns – but can't find a use for them just now (when has that ever stopped me before?). I'll take another look at FR too, however. Thanks for the information on Wurttemburg Cavalry – I'm going on Bowden's Grande Army of 1813 (page 258) which definitely says 4th Cheveauleger, but it does have some inaccuracies elsewhere, so I'll do some cross-referencing. I'll take a look at Newline too. James |

Bandolier, Yes I believe you are correct. Nafziger has them as the 4th Jager zu Pferd. Merci buckets, what a great site TMP is! James |

Try here for your wirttemburg cavalry and any other figs you might find you need . Stuart is a good fellow and makes some really great figs. Runicus link |

Runicus, Thanks – I'm afraid I'm a dinosaur and don't really get facebook – it looks to me that Stuart offers a painting service, whereas the painting part I enjoy – or does he produce a line of figures too – and if so how to navigate to take a look at them

Bandolier is correct on the Wurrtemburg Cavalry Regt listing.I have all 5 in 15mm and used Rawkins as my primary source and Histofig as my secondary. The artwork helped. Nafziger used a German source (probably the Wars of Liberation works) hence the Jager zu Pferd title. Scott spent a great deal of time in the French archives and my guess is they called Regts 1-4 all Cheveaulegers. |

Thanks bkim, that makes a lot of sense. Scott Bowden's book is a masterpiece, really inspiring. |

If you want to do the Perry plastics route, you could do French hussar legs, French dragoon torso and arms (the Stadlinger plate has them in black gloves), and Austrian double-peaked shako painted accordingly. Easy. (grin) |
