Getting ready to launch a kickstarter. Planning on 28mm Pakistani infantry, officers, and support teams.

What would you like to see available in 28mm? Who would you like to see sculpt them?

Thank you,
Ed

As in contemporary Pakistanis or the classic 1971 Indo-Pakistan War look? I'd most certainly be interested in the latter.

If the question is broader one I'd like to see some contemporary Colombians and some generic Latin American insurgents.

My .02 worth.
African Union Troops(US Kevlar helmets and gear with Russian weapons.)
Generic African rebel troops.
Cubans from the 70s and 80s with Ridgeway caps and helmets.
Modern Canadian infantry.
Modern Russian VDV in the right uniforms with the right equipment.
Modern Israeli infantry.
And I'll vote for Chacrinha's suggestions of Columbians and generic Latin American insurgents.

BTW, I understand you're in the US. This makes me very likely to order as the exchange rate and shipping from the UK are murder. I noticed 7.40 (pounds) for four figures on the Empress web site. That's $12.26 USD for four figures plus shipping. If you buy a platoon, say ten packs, that's over $120 USD plus shipping.

Some of those notorious Chechen "Black Widows" in full chador rig -- they'd be useful for all sorts of applications, from contemporary terrorists to Pulp cultists to various civilians

Irish Marine22 Jan 2014 10:49 p.m. PST

Iraqi army and insurgents, plus lots of Cold War troops, NATO and Warsaw Pact.

BigNickR23 Jan 2014 12:08 a.m. PST

russians in m40/m60 helmets with akms and the support weapons to let me outfit a platoon to a company worth of Guards Motor Rifle from 1970-1985ish

BigNickR23 Jan 2014 12:10 a.m. PST

Latin insurgents could be fun… narcoterrorists versus united fruit!

Mako1123 Jan 2014 12:48 a.m. PST

Cold War European troops from say the late 1950s, through the early 1980s.

Mid-late 1970s are of most interest, but those from the 1960s and other periods are of interest too, e.g. West German, Soviet/Warpac, British, Danish, Swedish, Dutch, etc.

If possible, figures should be compatible with Empress for size and bulk. It is OK if they have less detail than Empress.

Generic rebel and government troops for Middle East conflicts are hard to find. There are a few (Newline) but they often out of stock and hence it is difficult to make up viable platoons.

Modern African Troops – both regular and rebel types.

Somali Pirates

Modern Russians (Empress plan these for a Kickstarter to launch late 2014)

Durando23 Jan 2014 12:57 a.m. PST

Modern Japanese would be ideal for what if scenarios withthe Chinese

Mick in Switzerland23 Jan 2014 4:00 a.m. PST

North Koreans would also be interesting.

Further to my post above – Generic Regular and Rebel troops for Arab, African and South American armies would be very useful.

A clever manufacturer could do one platoon set of body sculpts and then do the same figures with African, Arab and Caucasian heads.

Oddball23 Jan 2014 5:16 a.m. PST

Egyptians and Israelis for '67-73 wars. (I know Mongrel / Badger games had them, but can't get any from their website).

1950's North Koreans / Chinese

Sam and Dean for zombie games.

Arab Israeli Wars 67-73
Lebanon 1980s

If we're talking moderns:

Generic Middle Eastern infantry.

Generic African infantry.

North Koreans.

And I think most lacking….

CONVERSION BITS! I can't find anyone in 28mm that does things like loose Camelbaks, assault packs, shotguns and M320s in holsters, radio packs, etc. Heads are scarce too, most done in 28mm are scaled for 40k and way oversized on most modern figures. It looks like a lot of modern militaries and special forces units are using the OpsCore helmet…a pack of heads wearing these would let us convert minis from Eureka, Empress, and others to represent lots of different units.

Generalstoner4923 Jan 2014 5:11 p.m. PST

I have been asking for 28mm Polish. Kevlar with AK's and support weapons. Could also get away with using them as other former Warsaw Pact to NATO converts.

African Union Troops(US Kevlar helmets and gear with Russian weapons-Stan Johansen Iraqui Army sets 15 and 16. I have a platoon painted up woodland cam and black skin, they work great.

Generic African rebel troops-Eureka ZANLA sets, 100mod130-136.

North Koreans-Mongrel Afghan National Army for caps and Mongrel Soviets for helmet.

Voodoo2124 Jan 2014 10:34 a.m. PST

Hmmm. Good ideas, thanks for those.

The Stan Johansen figures do make good African Union troops but I think the quality could be better and there should be crew served weapons. As to generic African rebel troops the Eureka stuff is fine but we could do with some in "Uniform."
The Mongrel Soviets are good if you're doing the 80's. Anything past that and the equipment an uniforms are badly out of date. And the cut of the uniform and equipment for the ANA doesn't match the NK's at all.

Dennis030224 Jan 2014 2:32 p.m. PST

About half way down there is some good info on modern Russians. Well worth reading.

Clearly the Stan Johansen miniatures must look better in the flesh. Every time I've looked at the pictures on their website, I come away with the impression that they were sculpted using chewing gum and pliers.

Not cheap, but with weapons and head swaps the Hasslefree modern troopers open up a wealth of possibilities, Poles included.

I just had another look at the Gripping Beast Aftican Malitia – they are much better than I had remembered.

Can anybody tell me how they are for size in comparison with Empress?

Chacrinha02 Feb 2014 10:28 a.m. PST

They match reasonably well with both Empress and Eureka. One of the packs contains a child soldier, who, obviously enough, is much shorter than the rest.
