Hi everyone I'm looking at possibly getting some First Corps Marian Romans to fight the horde of Black Tree Celts that I just bought. I've read that First Corps are slightly small 28mms, in fact one person described them as more like true 25mm. Can anyone tell me how far apart First Corps would be from Black Tree figures, or better yet know where comparison photos might be? I don't mind a small amount of size difference, but I don't want my Romans to be midgets either. |

The Black Tree Celts are really quite large, I have many of them. Suitable opponents are the Foundry Caesarians, and possibly the Warlord plastic Caesarians, which are a similar size. The First Corps are a fair bit shorter and I wouldn't personally stand them next to BTD. Nice enough minis, though. 1stCorp are very friendly and might send you a sample mini, if you ask nicely. |

ps Renegade Celts compliment the BTD ones very nicely, once the cricket-bat swords have been trimmed down. |

IMHO, the B.T.D. Celts are large next to 1st Corps. Simon is right on the mark as always!!!!! Mike Adams P.S. Warlord Games Celts would fit well with your Romans or buy Warlords Marian! |

Thanks for your responses guys. I was hoping to get a metal range of Marian Romans, but Foundry's prices are still a bit beyond me, and I'm not a great fan of Gripping Beast. As for the Warlord plastics, they do look nice, but I have Wargames Factory figures at the moment, (which actually paint up quite well). My change of mind was because I'm individually basing them, I wanted some more heft in the figures. |

Old Glory maybe? The 'Caesar's War' legionaries are bigger than 1st Corps (not so sure how they scale up against BTD though), and reasonably priced as well. Cheers Paul |

BTD soldiers tend to be large. Want to drive yourself insane? Try putting together a phalanx of BTD hoplites on 20mm square bases. A lot of them are making "come at me, bro" poses and BTD also gives you very convex hoplons --they're constantly shoving each other. |
