There was no hint that anything was amiss. Carol was looking over the reports from the console and everything looked fine. She heard someone coming up behind her and glanced over her shoulder.

picture

"Dave, I thought you were on the other side," she said, looking back to the screen.

It was the last thing she ever said.

picture

The hassassin fiday lowered her body to the ground as the optical circuitry in his suit scanned her and reproduced her exactly over his form.

"Carol, did you say something?" came the voice from the other side of the stream.

The Haqqislam agent peeked out from behind the machine, "Just noting that everything looks fine over here."

picture

Dave went back to his work.

Then he looked back. He had heard something, a movement in the woods and he turned around. Suddenly a Fusilier popped out of the woods and was moving towards him.

"Get down, get to cover," the soldier hissed to him.

Carol was running across the stream now.

"Carol, we need to get out of here."

The trooper was scanning the ground past Carol while playing with a device he had.

picture

Then Carol moved up behind the tarp-covered pile of supplies.

"I need to do no such thing" she responded firing a rifle into the surprised fusilier.

Dave dove for cover and sounds came from all around now. A motorcycle moved somewhere to his left and the sound of branches crackling came from his right.

picture

He could see a shimmering object now, it was big. Then he saw a soldier come running out of the woods. Holographic displays lit up the air around him and even from his cover behind the tree Dave could see that the generators were starting to respond.

picture

Suddenly the loud ripppppp of a machine gun sang out and Dave could see the bursts come from where he had last seen the shimmering object.

They shattered the soldier, throwing his body sideways like a piece of bacon jettisoned from a pan by an over quick motion of an offset turner.

More fire came from behind him now and the motorcycle engine screamed. The sound of shredding vegetation and responding blasts of a shot gun followed by screams announced that the battle had sprung up on every side.

Two shots now came from his right and a loud clang followed by the death of the engine sound announced that they had struck the motorcycle. A rush like the sound of flames announced they had ignited the gasoline and the screaming of a man announced that the flames had not been harmless.

Carol now appeared in the center of the stream as his eyes glanced that way. She pulled a grenade out of her bag and set it off, a dense cloud of smoke enveloped her.

Overhead the sound of a jet engine screamed into hearing and Dave looked up to see a Yu Jing Jade Falcon dropping two Tiger soldiers out of it, only slowing to change direction. Their jump packs slowed their decent enough, the one landing right next to one of the generators, the other landing in the water at the edge of the smoke.

Suddenly splashes through the water drew Dave's attention to a shimmering form there. The Tiger soldiers eyes moved towards it too, but before they could respond a gout of flame poured out of the barely visible object completely consuming the Tiger soldier.

As the smoke started to dissipate the other Tiger solder started to move away, firing as he went.

More shooting came from his right and realizing he was enfiladed he turned and ran for his life.

With the smoke now dissipated Dave could see two charred bodies lying in the small stream that emptied into the plant beneath.

Steam and smoke poured off of them.

The facility had been saved from the attack and the Cutter came into view, turning off his TO camouflage.

This was a neat game. We all had 150 pts. It was a three way battle going 6 turns. There were 6 potential points to be scored.

1pt of each machine successfully accessed and then control on two hacking rolls. Three possible machines.

3 pts for being the model closest to the center of the three machines.

Each side came up with an interesting strategy to take the center point but the Haqqislam players was the most interesting and possibly the best.

The Pan Oceana player took a cutter, a TO camouflaged mech. It is tough, difficult to see and hit and can move quickly.

The plan was to move up, eliminate enemy as they came into play and then stand at the center defying anyone to try to move him.

The Yu Jing took two Tiger soldiers who could combat drop and waited to the last turn to drop them on the objective.

The Haqqislam player had a Hassassin Fiday. This model has basic impersonation. So he needs three WIP based detection rolls against him to be seen for what he is. While he is in his assumed form, for this game Carol mostly, he cannot be targeted for shooting and you cannot move into base to base contact with him to start H-t-H combat.

So in the last turn he popped smoke after moving onto the target then used a whole order to re-impersonate carol.

He couldn't be seen because of the smoke so couldn't be shot without special detection equipment, even with that he was disguised.

This plan fell apart when the Tiger soldier deviated from his intended landing point and ended up on the edge of the smoke marker still visible to those out side and therefore able to be targeted.

The Cutter simply moved up and used his heavy flamer, a template weapon, to fry the Tiger soldier. The template of the weapon fell over the Hassassin Fiday who failed his armor roll (as did the Tiger soldier) and both died leaving the Cutter in control of the objective.

Fun read!

It was a fun game, thanks for the comments. We've been having a very good time with Infinity over the last month. I've probably played more than a dozen games since Christmas. I've got another few games set up for Friday, but I'm not sure I'll have a camera.

I'll probably start buying more dedicated Infinity terrain soon.

Thanks for sharing this.
Here in Central Maryland, Infinity has had a resurgence.
This was a great scenario idea and what the Haqqislam player came up with was genius.

Yeah, the basic impersonation thing is pretty powerful. We hadn't really used it before but since we started playing again about a month ago we have gone more in depth into the rules. It can certainly be more useful than TO camo in its own way.
