I had he pleasure of seeing these in person back in the 70s when they were on tour during the bicentennial. The resided at Fort Pitt Museum for a while.

Interestingly, the 'Marine' detachment shown of the French (Irish) Regiment Walsh, was the army 'garrison' given to John Paul Jones as his Marine detachment for the Bon Homme Richard.

The French had no Marines as such and used detachments from army line regiments on board their warships.

Interesting how army regiments were sometimes "detailed" to serve as Marines. Urban's _Fusiliers_ has a section on how this was done with the 23d Foot.
