The title states it all. Any reviews, compliments, inaccuracies?

Thanks

Looks the part when assembled, but overall detail is lower than FREX a Dragon or Revell model of the same thing. It has been a number of years since I looked at this kit however. I do recall the commander's cupola was too tall, and easily fixed. Tracks were one piece "belts", but were low on detail as well.

So you're saying Revell and Dragon are better? How? And are there any kits for improvement of the Hasegawa? frown

Garand19 Jan 2014 4:11 p.m. PST

Again, both Dragon and Revell kits have much better surface detail, especially better tracks. Also I wouldn't doubt they have better scale fidelity as well, as a lot of Hasegawa kits were pretty off in scale (their M4A3E8 is actually 1/70 scale, and their M3 Stuart approaching true 25mm scale, arond 1/60something…)

This is an old kit circa '70's. It has been superceded by the Dragon Panther G which has a zimmerit finish as well. It ticks a lot of boxes when it comes to accuracy.
The Revell Panther G has a few issues that cannot easily be resolved. The glacis plate is @ the wrong angle & the commanders cupola has an insufficient number of viewing ports [ episcopes ] ? However, the rest of the model is not bad if you can live with that. Also, it is probably more available than the Dragon kit which is becoming more scarce.
Be warned though, there are early & late versions of the Dragon Panther without zimmerit, but they come with diecast hulls & the fit can be quite atrocious ! Stick with the zimmeritted version & you can't go wrong.
There is a resin correction 'kit' for the Hasegawa model, you get a new upper hull, turret & resin tracks as I recall. The only original parts left from the Hasegawa model is the lower hull & running gear.

Made by who?

@Hornswoggler, I already saw that. Its not much of a review, don't you think? wink

Although the size and shape of the model are basically correct, the amount and quality of the detail is lacking by today's standards. It is a fairly simple model to build, and will likely prove satisfactory to wargamers who need large numbers of cheap and sturdy models. But for those who wish to build highly accurate scale replicas, the newer Revell Panther G kit is far superior.

The resin upgrade kit is made by CPL-BARRACUDA & sells for $15.00 USD on e-bay. Search 1/72 Panther on all categories & it will pop up if you scroll down the first page.

Hope this helps.

Yep…

How much does it cost? Any problems with the turret? And can the turret turn and the gun elevate?

Cpl Barracuda on ebay is Cpl Overby.
the Business is called Cpl Overby's Motor Pool.
to see all the models….
go to Face Book and type that into the search box.
it is $15 USD,
and completely up-grades the Hasegawa kit
to todays standards.
