Hundvig Fezian is not a real big fan of pre-painted minis, and he positively despises randomly-packed "collectable" ones - so why is he writing this article?

I'm looking for 28mm medieval figures wearing robes, leather armor and chainmail to make good Chaos Cultists for Mordheim Cult of the Posessed:

The old Chaos Thugs are a good starting point, and the old metal Perry Bretonnians would be decent with suitably evil head swaps, what figures are 28mm and have heads that are easily removable?

Artizan designs manufactures a range of medieval Berbers wearing long robes. The heads might not be particularly easy to remove, but many of them are wearing veils/scarves over their faces, which could make for a pretty cultisty look:

They tend to come with open hands, so you can glue a weapon of your choice on their hands.

Artizan thrilling tales cultists have the right outfits on.
But you need to do a bit of hand swapping of whatnot to replace guns with pointy things.

Come to think of it though, those bulky robes and pointy hats would be fairly easy to GS.

Westwind Miniatures have robe wearing monks who have armour in their Gothic Horror/Empire of the Dead range.

Take a look at 'The Firstborn' from the Chronopia line. I believe Prince August has them. They're more closer to Warhammer fantasy heroic style than most minis. Their sword, Mace and crossbow men are very nice. Not to mention their Chariots.

The Artizan Berbers are great, and would do well with some head swaps.

The Artizan Cultists are too small I fear – I need "GW-style" 28mm.

The Chronopia Firstborn are excellent figures in their own right – but wear plate – but I may still use some.
