I have purchased figures from them and they are very reliable. I have never used their painting service, but the samples that I saw in their store are really good.BZ is a first class company in all respects.

Good to know I appreciate it. You are right the prices are quite up there. If you don't mind I ask, what are these figures you purchased from them?

I have purchased many books and some 30mm SYW era artillery models from them. I know that Herr Schulz is a renowned painter of flats.

i know Mr Scholtz for 40 years and bought and sold to him. My father did the same with the father of Mr scholtz. The Familiy Scholtz is today the most famous and best tinsoldier wholeseller in Germany and the absolute authority for flats in the world. i think they are now in business for more than 100 years?

They buy ALL collections fom collectors without offspring and therefore varies the quality of painting depending from whom the figures came.

Unbelivable someone can claim to collect flats without knowing them? ???????

It is the biggest tinsoldier shop in Berlin ( and as far as i know the biggest for flats in the world!) and their shops in Kulmbach and Kassel fair are extravagant!

greeting

PS: if you or your wife have to eleminate your collection withhin a day…. Call them and they come with a truck and pay in cash!

Very efficient and I've ordered from them a number of times. That said, Berliner Zinnfiguren is pricey.

As for the painting service, can't vouch for it. I think Rudi refers above to the figures offered on the Flea Market section. Yes, due to originating from who knows what collection, they vary from high quality (Luxusbemalung) to factory paint to flat out lousy paint jobs. However, the Flea Market is the place at BZ where you can find some occasional good deals.

I think with flats, much of the appeal of collecting is painting them yourself, providing you have the time for it. And don't automatically pass on the poorly painted figures, or old ones with chipped and battered paint.

What counts is the engraving quality underneath: they can always be stripped and re-painted to your own standard. For example, I repainted the Heinrichsen slinger in the middle, flanked by the two guys in original factory paint:

I have been using them for years (last order arrived a few days ago). I have also been to the shop several times and found them to be very friendly and helpful.
A few points to note 1) its best to order a number of items as their postage can be quite high 2) keep checking the flea market but make sure you look under some of the unlikely headings like 'assembly packet' as that is where the real bargains are found.

I've been a customer of theirs for nearly 10 years and visited their shop in 2007.
Some on their staff speak and write excellent English. They accept Paypal and my experience with them has been nearly flawless. There can be some bargains, but the prices usually are not. I've never used their painting service largely because while the quality is high so is the cost.

Just as an update as we are discussing this again … I have just received an order today (excellent, prompt, by DHL)

picture

Process: order from from the website (which automatically knocks down the stocks and sends you an email) … the email says they will send you a link which you can pay with e.g. Paypal … there is then a delay of a few days (more in my case as my email filter put it in the spam box where I found it a few days later) …

However, I paid the requested sum and after a day further, got an email confirming despatch – and today, 2 days later, the goods arrived in good time.

This has been 12 days in total (which in times past, would have been good enough for goods from abroad – but 4 or 5 of those days were while the payment request was languishing in my Spam box, so not really part of the process) …

Knocking off the spam delay, it looks like the order was with me in about a week.

As for price, these were new figures so pricey … but I had them at a sale price (half price) so, with postage added on the price was about normal (roughly €1.00 EUR/foot, €2.00 EUR/mounted)

So, slightly quirky but entirely proper and satisfactory.
