Just a heads up for those who have played, are playing or would consider playing Irregular Wars: Conflict at the World's End. I have started revising to rules for a second edition and am happy to field offers of playtesting, queries or comments about the current or forthcoming games. link For those who have yet to take a look at the game, it is a set of fast play Renaissance rules recreate the smaller actions so common at the fringes of the European world: Britain, Ireland, colonial and native forces in the New World, the East Indies and the Eurasian steppe. Irregular Wars is designed for sixteenth and early seventeenth century engagements between forces 500 – 2,500 strong. The emphasis of the rules lie with the tactical concerns of command and company resolve, strongly tempered by factors beyond the players control such as weather and disease. |

A hard copy -yes!! Looking forward to this. I'm trying out 50mm square bases for 28mm at the moment and also fantastical elements -nothing too extreme of course just the odd unusual thing from the jungle

Let me know how 50mm bases work out. Out of interest, why are you using 50mm squares rather than 60mm? What sort of fantasicals are you messing around with then? I am still tempted to have a fun zombie pirate list but I just don't know if I can bring myself to include it. |

I want to use the bases for other rules like The Perfect Captain, Impetus and Pike and Shotte. Also I have lots of units that can be used across many periods such as such as Cossacks, Baluchis, African warriors, Irish,Indians,Turks so it's handy to have a common base. 50mm looks good for individual heroes and priests. The fantasticals are things like Foundry elves, nymphs and Landschneckt orcs, GW empire stuff, dwarves and halflings in slashed clothing and all sorts of other stuff I've collected over the last 40 odd years!! |

I would love to get this game in hard copy. It is great fun and a wonderful excuse to collect figures I would never build a "proper army" of. |

I'd like some more info on armed mobs -I always wondered who they were for each list. |

Any idea how long before the hard copy of 2nd Ed comes out? |

Hi Harry, He doesn't know it yet, but my wargaming friend and I would like to be included in your playtesting group. Thanks, John |

I would like the rules in A4 or similar. None of this A5 booklet stuff. And everything in one file not multiple files. Looking forward to this! |

Cheers lads for the encouragement. I can't say for sure how long this is going to take – it'll be this year for sure but probably a few months off at the very (very) least. Having the rules available as a single, hard-copy, volume will be good. It will be US letter size. Mumbasa John, drop me an email – my address is at the top of the blog page. |

There are some great Samurai fantasy figures. Take a look at the samurai dwarves and minotaurs at Cavalcade. link |

I made some simple counters for playing Irregular Wars while the lead armies are being accumulated, and I've just made them available in PDF format in case anyone else would like to make use of them. I print them on a single A4 label, cut them with a scalpel and then mount them on 30mm MDF bases. The link is at the bottom of this post: link |

Thanks for the counters doctorphalanx. I've been looking at this game since it was first released, and with QRF's sale on right now this is a great time to get started! |

I've revamped the original counters and added some more. I can now offer sets for Mere Irish, Royal English, English Borderers and Lowland Scots. I made them for play-testing but they will also help me to plan the lead armies. There is nothing more annoying than painting an army and then discovering it is a few figures short! Links to the counters can be found at the bottom of this post: link |
