Each year, my school offers members of the community a chance to share their unusual enthusiasm with the students. It seems like a tailor-made excuse to break out a 28mm skirmish game to me!

Here's the setup: link

And the execution: link

Dang, crossposted to the 19th cent board by mistake. My apologies.

And I would also like to extend a hearty thanks to Wingnut and his pirate crew for inspiration and advice. Who doesn't love pirate mayhem?

Nicely done! It looks like the kids had a good time as well.

The session was also an advertisment for a mini course on "Historical Simulation Gaming" that I'm beginning in two weeks. "Hey, kids, your first hit is free…" :)

Well played Sir.

Who makes the fort?

I splurged and ordered from Magister Militum. Its part of their 25mm "Vaubanesque" line. It's really just a bastion of a fort that would be monstrous if assembled, I imagine. Anyhow, I think it looks great just as it is and it makes a great Pirate island centerpiece.

Small world. I teach an elective for 8th grade on the History of Piracy. We're playing a pirate game next week at the end of the quarter.

I'm a history teacher, and my students just assumed that I was creating a meticulous historical simulation. You know, history teachers enjoy campy cinematic fun, too!

Now that is both fantastic and inspiring!

Awesome! Glad to see the kids had fun.
