Somebody else here said it first (I forget who) the army paints everything. Including shovels – that we all like to paint like the one in our garage. |

There are practical reasons to not let bare metal remain. Minimises reflections that can be spotted. And helps keep off rust. Civilian vehicles might use chrome or nickel plating to protect against rust. But "bare metal" would not normally apply to any production vehicle (you might see it on a jury rig, I guess). |
