This is a non-nuclear war Cold War song released in 1962 about the Berlin Wall called "West of the Wall" by Toni Fisher. There was a great film clip made for the song using real archive footage of the checkpoints, wall construction and people trying to jump over it…with varying degrees of success (and failure) but the YouTube Polizei have taken it down. @VCarter – I think the folks in the Communisat bloc probably had far fewer opportunities to publish anti-war or war-satire music, as it might have been seen as an attack against the state. But I am pretty sure there are examples of such music out there from Communist bloc nations – its just going to be hard to find! |
