Looking at the Osprey and around what has been written on the web I haven't noticed any company distinctions for the Westphalian Fusilier Guard. They are in 6 companies in this unit (at least there are in the Elite miniatures 28mm figure pack). But Triangle miniatures has some images which show them as having French type company distinctions.
I hadn't read about them having white tips on the plumes either. I wonder if this is artistic license on the part of TM. Does anyone know more? |

Chortle, The regiment did have grenadier and voltigeur companies; however, white tips to the plumes are a new one to me. Jurgen |

Thanks Jurgen. As usual, I found something after I posted but while TMP was down for maintenance. I found it on my hard drive along with some plates I think I got from Histofig web site (or something like that). It is a bit different from the Triangle Miniatures depiction. Regiment raised in 1812 and usually called "Queens' Regiment". Fusiliers * Short tails white coat with closed lapels. Dark blue closed collar piped white bearing two white buttonhole laces. Dark blue fringed epaulets with white crescent. Dark blue lapels bearing white buttonhole laces on each of the seven buttons. Dark blue cuffs with flap bearing buttonhole laces. White buttons. * White waistcoat and breeches. Black short gaiters. Black shoes. * Black felt shako with black leather top and bottom bands. White metal rhomboid plate stamped with crowned JN cipher. Black peak with white metal strengthening and white metal chinscales. * White leatherwork. Grenadiers Centre companies dress with scarlet fringed epaulets. Scarlet plume, cords and flounders. Scarlet sabre strap. Voltigeurs Centre companies dress with green fringed epaulets with white crescent. Green plume with white top and green pompon. Officers Troopers' dress with long tails, all ornaments silver or silvered. Rank epaulets in silver thread. Silvered gorget bearing gold royal cipher. Shako top band and chevrons in silver lace. Black leather boots with buffed turned top. Black sword belt and sword with gilded hilt and black leather scabbard with gilded fittings. |

Just for discussion, I thought this unit was stripped of the grenadiers and voltigeurs, who were used to reconstitute other Guard units, and the Fusilier Guard were left with just the four center companies. I don't have my reference at hand (I think it was in Nafziger's 2nd edition on their army) and will look this evening if you want. Ed |

That is interesting. Please do look it up. |

Chortle, According to the Salomon Pinas plates, the tip of the voltigeurs' plume was yellow rather than white. Jurgen |

Yes, I remembered correctly. Nafziger states (no reference, though) that it was raised in 1812 as the Queen's Regiment with the 6 company organization. "In early 1813" the elite companies were stripped out and used to rebuild the Guard Grenadiers and Jager-Garde. Then the remaining two battalions, of four companies each, were renamed the Guard Fusilier Regiment. Ed |
