"'A View to a Kill' Mk 2" Topic

For those of you who remember the 1985 Bond film of the same name, (with Roger Moore, Chris Walken, Tanya Roberts and Grace Jones…(whada woman!!!).

2015-View to a Kill 2: Corporate Magnate and amateur spelunker, Aramis Vulcan has plans to activate the overdue eruption of the Yellowstone Super-caldera, thereby decimating the majority of the western-central USA, (and quite possibly setting off sympathetic eruptions along other fault-lines as well as other global consequences!!). Aramis has set up supply depots in the most sheltered/least seismically active regions all over the planet and has established a top-secret, underground base….under the surface of the SOUTH POLE….which is 'hidden in plain sight'….from his surface 'spa, hotel and recreation' center….(which also sponsors 'scientific' research and mini-expeditions all over Antarctica as part of it's 'benevolent philantropic efforts'. Actually, any REAL research is diverted to Vulcan's efforts but enough 'discoveries' of historical/scientific import' are released to 'justify' him as a patron of science, etc.

In actuality, Aramis Vulcan is a descendant of Nazi (who else!), genetic experiments at a now-abandoned SECRET South Pole base! (where else?)…and he's used stashed gold from the 3rd Reich, to found his EMPIRE. He's determined to re-make the world in his own version of what the Fuher intended it to be…even if he has to destroy 9/10ths of the population and most of the world to do it!

He's established seed banks, DNA banks, Data preserves and stockpiled supplies and materials of about anything his 'new world order' could need…both at the pole and strategic (and stable, sheltered), locations around the planet…over the last two decades. All it will take now is the implementing of 'the Final Solution'…where he'll trigger the super-caldera, (but in such a way as there is SOME 'warning'…which he will provide…of course…to selected governments/individuals…with offers of 'sanctuary' at his South Pole retreat….and if the officials don't comply with his terms, information of the impending disaster will 'leak' causing mass hysteria and rioting…etc…..

Though the super-eruption is, technically 'overdue' geologically speaking….can Vulcan be stopped? He might use his technical edge to prove credence to his 'forcasting' by triggering Vesuvius, or Mt St Helens, or worsening the Icelandic Volcanos????

It may be a 'rote' formula…but couldn't you see Bond in sub-terranian vehicals trying to stop this sort of thing?

He's doing for the long term good of the planet. Way too many of the wrong people alive today. Now we just have to find some way to prevent the Japanese research fleet from operating freely in the Antarctic waters.

Take out the Nazi connection, and it's perfect.
It instantly becomes dull, predictable, and undoes the brilliance of the rest.

I really like the story though!

The Yellowstone Caldaria will take out the Northern East Coast as well because that is where all the ash is going to go. Wind patterns over Yellowstone are always West to East.

but by 'triggering' a couple of other events….(to 'prove' his scientific method/program, etc), like at Vesuvius or Mount St.Helens…….Vulcan could SEEM like he's got the 'insider trading' method of predicting eruptions…possibly how to trigger other PLATES/faults…to the point where he could 're-terraform' the whole earth, (ala 2012 movie?)…and thus remake the whole planet, (as well as civilization and biosphere), in his own way….

While Yellowstone might make a mess of the US eastward….IF St. Helens was triggered FIRST….then the other 'hot spot volcanic 'upwellings'…possibly with Neutrino beam emissions??? Volcanic 'terrorism', controlling the markets/suppy and demand, ala Moriarty wanted to use a WAR to sell weapons and bandages to all sides???

and as to his 'origin'…maybe he thinks he's an ACTUAL living descendent of 'Vulcan/Pluto', god of the Underworld???? Maybe like the creatures from 'Surface'…he's NATURALLY 'immune'/protected from molten rock????

This reminds me of a Clive Cussler novel. Atlantis Found, if memory serves. And yes, there was a sequence involving AR-15s and armored SnoCats. It was awesome.
