New battle report here, and a look at some conversions and new miniatures ranges, enjoy! link |

Nice AAR as usual. I appreciate the info on building up a Epic Tau Army as well. Thats my next wargames project after I do 5000 points of Epic Necrons. Any ideas for good proxies for Necrons? |
Markconz | 07 Jan 2014 3:44 a.m. PST |
Cheers Bill, and yes for Necron Infantry use Exodus Wars Edenites: link Or Dark Realm Miniatures Andrayada: link For Destroyers Dark Realm Hubris make a good base, if you glue the top half of one of the above infantry figures on top: link For the Necron War Engines Exodus Wars again is the typical choice, the Droid Controller (choose with or without skulls
) link
though I've been thinking of using the Dark Realm Andrayada Vertex as a Harvester Engine: link For Obelisks I would probably use Dark Realm Vira, the style of which suits the newer Necron nasties and they look suitably speedy: link The Necron "God" figures can be represented by any appropriate 25mm figure (e.g. generic wraiths make a good Deceiver). This leaves Monoliths as the only major thing which is tricky at the moment. There is not anything really suitable straight out of the packet I think. I'm in favour of quick and easy conversions and nothing too complicated, so I'll probably make some each out of a couple of grav tank hulls placed together (i.e up on their rear ends with bases facing) – at least until something better is released which might not take too long given all the new figures around these days. |

What do these monoliths look like? |
Calico Bill | 07 Jan 2014 6:12 a.m. PST |
Thank you Markconz. I'm very grateful for that information as it will greatly speed up my selection of suitable figures. There's something on Shapeways thats suppose to be Monoliths, but are probably too small. Please keep those AARs coming. They're a great read of a great game. |

As I have been saying, Exodus Wars & DRM makes great stuff for 6mm Sci-fi ! Plus add Onslaught, MicroWorld and PFC/CinC ! Who needs GW !!!? Great AAR and intel Markconz ! |

This leaves Monoliths as the only major thing which is tricky at the moment. Well for those I would consider using these.
or
Just need to fill in the numbers with some green stuff and bingo you have something that could be used as a Monolith. |

I worked one up in Sketchup and it's on my Shapeways store, but it isn't cheap. I went with a pack of 4 to lower the fixed set-up cost, but if you just want one, I can certainly arrange that. It would print best in Frosted Ultra Detail, which is the most expensive of the plastics, of course. link
TMP link I've also done some work on a prototype Warbarque, which you can see here: link I'd started on the Titan, but other projects came up and I've shelved it for the time being. |

Great report. Thank you. The TAU conversions are really very impressive, please pass it on to your friend. |

Speaking of Tau proxies – Onslaught Miniatures, whose sculptor/owner also works with Steel Crown – link The style is different enough to make them unique, but close enough to be useful :) |

Cheers for the comments all. Mithmee that's kind of a neat idea and you could add more bits to them to make them look better too, though once again it's not something you can just use straight out of the pack like other stuff. I imagine it might not satisfy most Epic players unless a fair bit more work was done which leaves one with the original problem. Javelin that's well done, though you're right the price for frosted or ultra frosted detail is perhaps 2-4 times what one might expect to pay in metal or resin for a comparably sized mini from another 6mm company. And the cheaper plastics end up too grainy. That's the problem with Shapeways I guess. Also I'd actually prefer something that doesn't look quite so much like the GW item! Usable as it, but also definitely unique is what I'm after! |

You can glue half of an Edenite onto a GW Scarab to make a destroyer too: link (Monolith and tomb spyder are one-of-a-kind papercraft, sorry to be of no help there) |

Great AAR and photos, I really like your Tyranids. |

Nice Javelin98. I'll start saving up for my next order as postage to Australia means I'll need to put in a large order to Shapeways to make it viable. Very nice Monolith. |
Logain | 08 Jan 2014 10:11 p.m. PST |
Plasmablast makes a set of warsynths that are good for necrons and the set includes models that looks like a destroyer. link |
Markconz | 09 Jan 2014 2:04 p.m. PST |
Nice find Logain! Would be good if they made those two warsynths available in separate packs too. Just checked and found I have $50 USD Store cred with Shapeways from a previous order somehow, so maybe I'll have to get some of those deathbot pyramids after all

I "scratch-built" some monoliths a while back. They were even used in the fan-based E:A rule book "Raiders" on Tac Cmd
There were some other fan based models made and posted on Tac Cmd. As I have said before
it you like 6mm sci-fi and are not on the Tac Cmd site, you are missing out. Exodus Wars, Onslaught, DRM, MicroWorld, Angel Barracks, PFC/CinC and others are denizens of the site
