Ok I have been working on these McDonald's happy meal AT-TE's that I got off E-Bay for £1.00 GBP the pair just before Christmas, I borrowed the idea after seeing the same toys also getting a revamp on Paul's Mini Metal Mayhem blog. link The first thing I had to do was to strip the old paint off by leaving them in a jar of Detol over night and scrubbing them with a old tooth brush and soapy warm water the following day, I then dried them off thoroughly and started to fill in any screw holes and seams with modelling putty, as the wind up keys had been crudely hacked off I had to think of a cover for that area I finally decided to used a drawing pin head and simply pinned it in were the key had originally been. Next I cut and added the brass tubing for the ball mounted defence weapons exactly the same way as Paul mentions in his blog and finally I added the extra long aluminium gun barrels which were purchased from my local model shop. Below is the Auction photo followed by the work I have done to both AT-TE's which still need a lick of paint, I plan on using them for my Ion age space opera Retained knights army I hope you approve, thanks Zac

I borrowed these pic's from the Mini Metal Mayhem blog to show the AT-TE's next to some 15mm figures and to show you what Paul has done with one of his AT-TE's.

Great use of a toy often consigned to the dustbin!

I have a few of these ferreted away somewhere.I upgraded one with the long gun and the smaller weapons, haven't had time to do the others yet.

Nice find, are any still around at all?

@ Chatticus Finch
The original McDonald's promotion finished long go but i went and looked on E-Bay and found these three auctions the last link has a couple of the McDonald's happy meal toys but they are all from the USA and the international shipping kind of kills the cheap appeal of them.

Nice. I would have probably scavenged the legs for some never-to-be-completed mech projects, myself. These give me painful memories of "new Star Wars"…
