I've painted and based what constitutes a battalion of Grenz infantry at 1:50. Post 124 and the following post 125 link Cheers, Michael |

Michael, This has been a debate of mine also. From what i have understood, the entire formation rarely was dispersed since there were always formed reserves to support the skirmish line. If I was to remount mine, I would done the same except used deeper bases for half of the bases and placed the marching shoulder to shoulder to represent the placement of the formation (still in order and as the reserve). Mine currently are mounted as formed and not happy with it. I have yet to do the Jagers and need to decide soon since the next Korps I am to start mounting has them in their advance DIV. It would be interesting to see what other have to say! MG |

BTW I do enjoy following your 1809 Blog! I wished sometimes to have done the 10mm some 20 yrs back for sake of "numbers to a battalion look" and table size. I am committed to the 15s for now, a respectable compromise at 1:25 or 1:50 if I so Choose. MG |

MG, I think with only 12 figures I can get away with all of them skirmishing but I might now be tempted to have a few formed in reserve, perhaps in march pose at the rear of a central base. My Jägers will be mounted in open order for sure. Thanks for following the Blog! Cheers, Michael |
