Lovely pictures but it's a shame that it doesn't tell you what each one is!

Think list 66 in the french section (france, 1805-1814 ) is incorrect looks very British or Hanoverian to me. Sstill nice sourse made available free to the public, good show.

People have mentioned the NYPL Digital Collection here on TMP in the past, but I'm not scolding. It's so great, it's worth mentioning again!

I must agree with legatushedlius: more information would be useful. It seems that a prior knowledge of a period's soldiers is needed if a person is going to get the most out these illustrations. Someone getting started in Napoleonics would be baffled, for instance.

Still, it's nice to see a few familiar illustrations in color on this site, which I've seen reproduced in black and white in other sources, like the Osprey books.

Here's one of my favorites from the French Revolutionary Wars:

I asked my friend David Raybin which one he liked and he said this is how he sees himself on the wargame table:

If you click on the picture and enlarge there is a description at the bottom.

However I agree, a newbie may be puzzled.

Great link to a great collection!!

I used to have the site stored in my Favourites [until my last laptop died on me whilst I was doing my accounts!! :>( ] so it's great to have the link back again.

Kudos.
