Had my first Sails of Glory game. A 3 on 3 game with all new players. In a nutshell, the full rules have everything you want in a game. Planning sailing actions, ordering crew to fire guns, put out fires, etc. A competent wargamer can pick up the mechanics in one turn I think. My last best sailing game was Wooden Ships and Iron Men. SoG has all that and I like don't need to look back. The rules are meaty enough that first time players should stick to one ship. You won't be replaying Trafalgar with these rules
its more Master & Commander. My only complaint is the game has a rather high Plano Factor. If you keep the ship cards and counters together, however, setup is quick. My second complaint is not going all in on the Kickstarter, now I have to wait for wave one to hit stores. |

Thanks for the positive review. I've got my mats, but still no ships. Grrr. . . is how I'd describe it also. Waiting is horrible! |

I was tempted buy didn't buy in because I thought the models looked overpriced for you you received. What are your thoughts on the price/value for money? |

Well I'm gob smacked
The post office just delivered! Initial thoughts are "a quality product." The big box I thought must be full of packing. It wasn't, it was packed edge to edge with ships, extra counters and the boxed game itself. I went for the captains option for the kick starter and I'm glad I did. If ares begins another KS for a game that takes my interest. I'm in! |

Having gamed with Elmo yesterday I will say I give it an enthusiastic thumbs up, even if the random draw of the first maneuver seems a little silly and prone to screwing someone. |

"A competent wargamer can pick up the mechanics in one turn I think." Probably, but two of us (me included) had difficulties knowing when to do what. Also, the mechanics for fires and bailing water went in one ear and out another. Then again, what did you expect. I even sailed off the board. Bottom line is it was fun to play. |

Got notification that my copy is supposed to arrive tomorrow. I'm polishing up my hanger and have set the crew to chipping balls! :D Shawn. |
