Santa brought me a nice set of H&R stuff. A pack each of German infantry, Panzergrenadiers and a heavy weapons set plus a pair of Stugs and a heavy and Medium tank platoon at 1 model to 1 vehicle. Plus some panzer jaeger 1s and SIG33 for support. Along with various support items like Trucks, kubals and motorcycles. You guessed it I'm doing 1940. I did the unit research and my kids bought the lead pile for me from the list I gave them.

The castings are all pretty good but the Stug IIIBs are especially nice. Very little flash and minimal mould lines. There are a few casting sprue ends needing trimming but nothing major. I'm missing one turret for a Pz IIB and I got one extra turret for a Sd Kfz232 so I can guess what happened there. I have no doubt that H&R will sort that out for me.

All in all these look like they will clean up and paint nicely. I will be picking up some British opposition in the New Year. I'll let you know how they turn out.

H&R still my all time favourite 1/300th figures in all periods and the range covers a lot.

Thanks for the report, Elenderil. I've thought about getting some 1/300 World War II infantry from H&R. I get the impression that the figures and vehicles you received have good casting.

The infantry are traditional 1/300, slim castings and notably smaller than 6mm figures. That said the Panzergrenadiers are nice castings with some good details and a decent range of weapons in the set. I suspect that they are new designs. The German Infantry are mainly rifle armed cast in walking poses. The heavy weapons pack has tripod mounted MGs and crew, Light mortars with two prone crew and heavy mortars with knelt crew.

I'd go with one pack of each as a basis for an infantry company and supports.

Forgot to mention antitank rifles and panzerfausts(4 of each) in the heavy weapons set plus a command group.

Well Jerry is almost done and I have bought some GHQ 1940 armour and infantry us some Irregular Miniatures improvised armour for HomeGuard use.
