What color should I use for a West German Tank Crew uniform? I am painting a Tank Commander for my Leopard I and I'm not sure what to paint his uniform and beret. Thanks for any help. |

1980's-Their one piece overalls were the same faded olive as the infantry
.and they came with fluffy liners- great for keeping out the cold! With black berets I think

Black berets would be normal; depending on the period, the overalls could be flecktarn, faded olive as shown by Gaz0045, or dark grey-green. Jurgen |

Thank you for the information. The commander will really blend in with the tank. |

Those coveralls make GREAT work and/or hunting clothes, by the way – with or without the liner, depending on the season. I just hope nobody ever has to use the evacuation strap built into mine! Doug |

link Each Branch of the German Army had a differnt type of Badge for there Beret. And different colored Berets as well.
The only thing I remember that they wore as for a unit badge were a badge that was like a (Unit Crest that was attached to a leather holder that would be worn on a shirt or jacket threw a button hole. There are some showen on this link. link As per rank of there troops, link |

Battalion badges would be worn as shown in 11th ACR's link with the higher unit badge on the upper arm. Jurgen |
