Wow, don't get in a police chase in Mexico, or you may be in for a world of hurt. Apparently, their engagement rules, are a bit looser than those in the USA, with good reason:

So, if you're looking for a little more fire support for your anti-drug raids, in your hypothetical games, looks like this might be just the ticket.

But do they have Whisper Mode?

Garand21 Dec 2013 10:29 p.m. PST

Per the article they were Blackhawk helicopters, not quite gunships they were calling them…

Damon.

I guess it depends upon what they're armed with, and how many, gut I get your drift, compared to the more militarized gunships we know of.

Still, I'll bet the bad guys thought they were gunships.

If it's flying, and it's shooting at me do I care if it is technically a gunship? grin

tberry740322 Dec 2013 9:24 a.m. PST

Excuse me, Sir or Madam. Please stop shooting at me as you are NOT a gunship.

Thank you.

If you are on the receiving end of 7.62mm, you don't really care if it's coming from a single-barrel LMG or a rotary-barrel Dillon Aero. It's incoming fire from a helo, therefore it's a gunship.

Personally, I never understood why the Cartels haven't upped their game – they can *afford* to hire mercs and sophisticated weapons beyond small-arms. Why they haven't escalated to MANPADs is beyond me. That, and gunships of their own.

If they brought in MANPADS, we'd probably get involved militarily. Same with their own armed helos. That would, of course, be interesting, but the results would undoubtedly not be good.

But could they? Absolutely. If 'something' happens north of the border that renders the US militarily ineffective, will they? I'd say yes.

Mako1125 Feb 2014 1:00 a.m. PST

They're already north of the border now, and apparently operating in most of our major cities.

Supposedly, kidnapping wealthy individuals is one of their new "enterprises", especially just over the border from Mexico.

It'll be "interesting" to see the fallout from the capture of "shorty".

Supposedly, we want him extradited to the USA. If that happens, I suspect things could get even uglier.

Of course, if he stays in Mexico, he just operates out of a plush, jail cell, or get rescued/"escapes" with the help of others perhaps, too.
