60mm Greek Hoplite by Expeditionary Force received yesterday in the mail along with 8 other hoplites.

Bottom Line Up Front: Best Large Scale (54mm or 60mm) Ancient figures on the market.

These figures are truly wonderful. The plastic that they are made of is semi-hard so it is not as brittle as the standard 'model' plastics found in vehicle kits and the current 28mm plastic figures. The plastic is not soft like normal toy soldiers either. What is allows is for great detail and paint adhesion.

Photo below is what I did in about an hour last night – not counting the assembly / priming / drying. I encourage anyone that likes gaming on the large side to take a look at their line…and aside from being able to field a full field army for Greeks – hoplites, skirmishers, peltasts, cavalry etc…the Persians are due out in March! Thermopylae here we go!

I often lurk on TMP and very rarely endorse a product or become a 'fan boy' however these guys are a game changer for Toy Soldiering in my opinion. My hope is that this is successful for them and that they can expand the ranges, nationalities later.

My cell phone photo is not the greatest though.

Now if I can only convince LBMS to produce transfers for this line of figures….Steve? *cough, cough*

I agree … they are nice … and the equipment looks quite plausible too …

I read on the Marx Yahoo group that they should be compatible with the Conte Spartans. Any thoughts?

I have both – and I agree that they compatible – I am not sure about the same formation given some of the sculpting styles but I will definitely use both on the same table.

Will these be useful for playing DBX games?

I think so if you want to rank them up on a sabot base – with clipping the bases I measured them at about 50mm deep and 90mm wide for a base of 3. I plan to use 'blue tack' (the stuff that you hang pictures and such on walls) as the figures will adhere to them but you can pull them off the base when done with a game.

Now unless you have a buddy who wants to field the opposition I think you will end up making two field armies (that is my plan at least)

I really like your painted figure.
I did a comparison of other Greek figures at 54mmmen.blogspot.com.au

I also like them a lot great sculpting.
