Looks like Battlefront is getting into WW1!!! On their Flames of War website they have a video recapping this years stuff and displaying what they have planned for 2014. At the end of the video they talk about a "new period" that they will be expanding into and have a fuzzy video of what is definately a German WW1 A7 tank. |

As the entire production of the A7 was limited to twenty vehicles it is difficult to see how the correct "car park effect" might be achieved. |

There was that huge Gallipoli display game that Wargames Illustrated brought to Salute in 2011 , BF have been into WW1 for a while. |

WWI was a huge tank war, don't you know. If nothing else, Battlefront will have a ton of armored cars to produce. |

Is it possible the new period is the Spanish Civil War? The rules (Spain in Flames/Espana en Llamas) and army lists have been written, proofed and submitted to them since June of this year. This would have the added benefit of using many of the vehicles already in their lines, thereby driving sales. |

Looking at the video they say 2014 has special significance I know the Americans didn't come in till a bit later but could it be the 100th anniversary of the start of WW1. So makes sense that this could be the new period me thinks. |

I like how half the responses aren't things like "Cool! It's great to have more options for wargaming!" or "Hey – some kids might actually learn there's more to history than Space Marines!", instead it's more moaning about Battlefront. I <3 TMP. |

I admit to being intrigued about what the new period will be, but I'm not sure I want to game WW1. I hate accepting 50% plus casualties

If they are doing WW1, I hope that they do early war first as that period still maintained a lot of mobility early on. I'd also like to try using the Command Decision Test of Battle Scenario Book for 1914. |

FoW can't do WWII, why in the heck would it go to WWI? As a game, to each his own. There's nothing right or wrong about liking or disliking a set of rules. As something that gets close to history, FoW ain't it. And they'll do WWI worse than they do WWII. Egads |

Personally, I'd have avoided WWI it is basically, Infantry, Cavalry, Artillery, occasional Aircraft and very late on, some very, very, limited Armour. So rather than say, WWII Eastern Front and the Island Hoping Campaigns of the USMC in the Pacific or the Siege of Singapore, or maybe the Battle of Guadalcanal or The Battles of Burma, China, the Chindits etc. Anyone else confused by the WWI take? Or maybe even the Korean War, which they have the majority of the stats, vehicle models and stuff for. They opt for yet another different Era. 1. WWII – 60% finished. 2. Vietnam – 40% covered 3. Arab Israeli – 20% covered 4. Korea not covered at all. 5. WW1 – On the cards. I wish they had completed WWII with books and the final stages of WWII with Pershings and Comets. Then focused on the Far East Front and a revamp of Early War and Mid War. When that was done, do Korea. Then Modern era Suez, Arab Israeli, "Fulda" 1970's etc. |

They will make what they think will sell, and have no obligation to "complete" any range. Particularly since there are a large number of manufacturers who "fill in the gaps". For example, I can buy Pershings from Old Glory. They are doing what they think is "best for business". Or, like the Perrys, they found a new period that is shiny. The only obligation a company has is to itself in this field. They have none to complete a range if they are not selling as much as they thought they would. As for Korea and Guadalcanal, what if no one in the office is interested in them? |

I would welcome a new WWI line to coincide with the war's anniversary. |
