The Arak were well-received so we thought we'd preview the next 15mm blackpowder sci-fi range, the Mozzians. Ruled by an absolute monarch, these creatures were slow and did not show a great deal of initiative, but were incredibly tough in the defence and resolute in the attack.

They were actually two species, the North Mozzians and South Mozzians. The only external difference was that the South Mozzians lacked a shell, which all North Mozzians possessed.

A South Mozzian:

A North Mozzian:

They had mounted troops in their early battles against the Arak, but virtually all of them were killed in the first few campaigns, and were not present in the desperate later battles, so will be made a bit later.

We'll provide uodates--stay tuned!

Wouldn't want to be behind either of these new troops…they leave one hell of a slime trail on the march. Yeech. Otherwise, the figures look interesting.

DLIinVSF18 Dec 2013 12:17 p.m. PST

Clever designs and well executed sculpts.

Jojojimmyjohn18 Dec 2013 12:23 p.m. PST

Awesome!!!

Snails and slugs… awesome, love it!

Space Monkey18 Dec 2013 12:53 p.m. PST

For some reason I think it would be hilarious to use them in a 28mm game… 'what's that crunch… OH NO! You just stepped on Corporal Minge!'

Cacique Caribe18 Dec 2013 1:08 p.m. PST

Slugs vs snails …

I wish I could start that conflict in real life in my yard every single Spring! I would call it the Babosos War.

Dan
PS. Khurasan, are the slugs going to have Onychophora as heavy troops?

Thinking about making some HoTT armies with these figures… :)

Damon.

It would need to be a 28mm Uma Thurman to step on these guys and crunch them ….

So, we can now game WSS troops vs the snail army, correct?

LorenzoMele18 Dec 2013 2:17 p.m. PST

What ruleset can be used with these figures, HOTT apart?

Vis Bellica18 Dec 2013 2:30 p.m. PST

Hi LorenzoMele

Any ruleset that covers shooting things! Just adapt the army lists and rules to cover what Jon's producing.

I'm going to use them as a sci-fi army for Q13 i.e. ignoring all this blackpowder rubbish and having their guns as blasters!

AWuuuu18 Dec 2013 2:33 p.m. PST

I love them !!
They will get spot of my Space strange alien natives in Sci-fi Colonial setting.
I wonder how difficult they will be to ubgrade ofr AK47s !

Araks are cool but their poses makes them hardly usable apart from Napoleonic setting.

Coooool…

I think we all need to know where Jon is getting his mind-alterimg substances.

These are crazy-awesome!

Looks like I picked the wrong week to cut back on salt.

khurasanminiatures18 Dec 2013 6:21 p.m. PST

Eli, the blackpowder snail market is saturated. grin

Bashytubits18 Dec 2013 7:56 p.m. PST

Where is the letter carrier? You know for snail mail.

Cacique Caribe18 Dec 2013 8:16 p.m. PST

Google one, slugger!

Eli Arndt18 Dec 2013 9:00 p.m. PST

I would have to agree with you there :)

Rock salt rounds, needed quickly.

Kierto19 Dec 2013 3:19 a.m. PST

Nice one. These should be quite fun to paint, think of all the cool warpaint!

republic of tolworth19 Dec 2013 4:10 a.m. PST

Aarggh! Slug and Snail troops!

Take my money now!!!!

boy wundyr x19 Dec 2013 7:27 a.m. PST

"Slugs and snails are after me" – ooh a miniatures line from a Ramones song, awesome!

khurasanminiatures19 Dec 2013 8:27 a.m. PST

That was the inspiration!

(It wasn't but I'd like to pretend it was.)

BlackWidowPilot Fezian19 Dec 2013 9:47 a.m. PST

I personally don't care so much about what it is that's inspiring you, Jon, just so long as you remain *inspired*… evil grin

Jon, I want them NOW!!! How *dare* you go and take a holiday break after letting me see these!

[…adds them to "must buy" list…]

Incidentally, I would not mind marching behind an army of these. No dust clouds!

Reminds me of this scene:

This is very cool. I'd love to see the salamen get this treatment ;)

Etranger19 Dec 2013 2:30 p.m. PST

Just need a salt shaker for the opposition. Hmmm, one that just happened to resemble a Dalek one would be nice….

Lots of fun!

Got any pix next to 28mm figures? Those guys might be good aux soliders for these guys

Dunadan19 Dec 2013 9:41 p.m. PST

Wouldn't want to be behind either of these new troops…they leave one hell of a slime trail on the march. Yeech.

Must be pursuing a slimed-earth policy.

Mako1120 Dec 2013 12:27 a.m. PST

Would love to see some of them with high-tech weaponry as well, instead.

tsofian21 Dec 2013 8:41 a.m. PST

They live in terror of troops armed with salt shakers.

French units get a bonus when attacking these troops!

Rene, break out the garlic butter tonight we feast on our enemies!

khurasanminiatures21 Dec 2013 10:02 a.m. PST

Wow, seems like there were a lot of cruel kids out there! grin

I was that kid who'd find earthworms on the road and put them back in the dirt…. (and I still do)

tsofian21 Dec 2013 11:33 a.m. PST

Those earthworms aren't armed with muskets!

MKGipson21 Dec 2013 1:20 p.m. PST

But put the earthworms into suits of powered armor and then you TREMBLE IN FEAR!!!!!

[Earthworm Jim reference…]

Umpapa21 Dec 2013 1:58 p.m. PST

They are awesome. I will need to scifize them, though, but they are worth it.

In the Space Opera rules, IIRC, the "snails" were able to scramble the brains of humans, to keep them from thinking coherently, and to cause debilitating nausea, when in close proximity.

So, if you aren't wearing your protective helmet, you may suffer from those effects.

MKGipson21 Dec 2013 6:18 p.m. PST

Anyone read "Mother of Demons"? Those were some kick-butt snails!

Cacique Caribe21 Dec 2013 7:53 p.m. PST

Mako11: "In the Space Opera rules, IIRC, the "snails" were able to scramble the brains of humans, to keep them from thinking coherently"

Like these "brain slugs"?

Perhaps the very young stage of the snails/slugs could be the ones that are used for taking over the minds of hosts!

Um, Jon has some mutant earthworms he's yet to release packing AK-47s…evil grin

Better dealing with Mozzians than a politician, at least the Mozzians leave their slime behind.

tsofian22 Dec 2013 11:55 a.m. PST

Armed earthworms! Isn't that the Sathar from Star Frontiers?

republic of tolworth24 Dec 2013 2:11 p.m. PST

Love to see a few of these chaps with cutlass and flintlock pistol. Snail and slug pirates and officers.
Also will there be artillery?
Love to launch slime bombs at the enemy and slow them down.

Spudeus26 Dec 2013 9:31 a.m. PST

I would be kind to my snail subjects. . .. at first.
