Monday several of my friends and I played out a Pacific "what if" that pitted comparably sized British and Japanese forces against one another around the island of Sangiang in the Sunda Strait. In this scenario PoW and Repulse retreat from Singapore, as the Brits are going it (almost) alone against the Japanese and want to husband their resources a little better. The speculated ABDCOM (ABDACOM – America) launched a successful night attack through the strait at Japanese landing forces on the north side of Java. Losses were heavy, but the damage to Japanese morale and materials has given the Dutch defenders time to regroup. They might now have a fighting chance to hold Batavia for a time, if reinforcements can be found.
You can read about the action on mine olde blogge. |

Interesting. What rules do you use? |

Modified Victory at Sea. They play quickly, which is useful for large actions, but I can't quite recommend the as I've never truly been satisfied with them. I've also used GQ-III, though I'm not comfortable enough with it to run it, and Naval Thunder might have some potential for quick play. |
