Dear All,

On Sunday a small bunch of die hard ACW buffs replayed a Fredericksburg game, this time employing a much more interesting scenario…

Great looking game. How long is that table?

Thanks. 36 Foot.

Sorry I couldnt make it. The table looks awesome as always.

wow I am in awe. Who makes those great buildings?

Gamineering17 Dec 2013 4:26 a.m. PST

The barn in the foreground of the photo above is the plastic ramshackle barn from Renedra. An excellent kit.

All of the other buildings used to represent Fredericksburg are from Sarissa-Precision. These are all mdf kits and are supplied unpainted. I painted them all (in a hurry!) using the army painter and GW spray paints. The separate parts made this relatively easy (for example the window shutters are separate pieces). The roof of each building is also removable. They were a pleasure to assemble and were no problem to order from UK.

Checking the table diagram – the table was actually 24 foot long by 6 foot deep.

It just seemed that long!

Nice looking game! Looks like a lot of fun! I once did Fredericksburg in 15mm on the same amount of table space. The Union was wiped out again in our case!

Wow! Great looking everything. I love the idea of using the movement trays. A few questions?

What rules did you use?

I assume your units are brigades. If so, it looks like you use a standard 6 bases per. Correct?

How many bases in all did you use?

Gamineering20 Dec 2013 6:22 a.m. PST

We used Black Powder, with very few modifications.

We represented the historical orbat on a 1:4 ratio, so each historical Division was typically represented by 2 to 7 units, plus a few bases of Skirmishers and maybe a couple of gun batteries. Each infantry unit does not quite equate to a brigade from the historical orbat.

Each infantry unit is generally six (40mm) bases. Cavalry units were slighly smaller at 4 to 5 bases per unit. Each battery was represented by a single gun.

At the peak of the action there were approximately 65 units of infantry, 40 skirmisher bases, 20 guns and 8 units of cavalry on the table. This is close to 500 bases.
