"Right next to the airport in the city of Wellington is the Miramar Peninsula. This area is really something very special. Here you will find beautiful beaches, bizarre rocky coastlines and even penguins here rise from the sea. On the other hand, the interior of this island is densely built and here there is also a large part of the emerging film industry in New Zealand. For every movie buff and modeller , it is therefore mandatory to seek the resident Weta Workshop . Weta Workshop was primarily responsible for the facilities of The Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit films. Here all the weapons , armor , models, masks and other props were designed and made . So all the things that you really can hold in your hands. For the many interested visitors the Weta Cave was set up for this reason. In this exhibition and sales room you can admire a lot of movie props and choose from a huge selection of souvenirs and books. Just outside the entrance waiting for the visitor great models of the three trolls from " An Unexpected Journey " . In addition to the exhibition is a 20 – minute film shows the work of Weta Workshop , which not only includes the Tolkien adaptations , but also a variety of other films and series such as King Kong, The Chronicles of Narnia and Distric 9
