I just finished the 112 gun Santa Ana. This ship was at Trafalgar. It was captured by the British but recaptured and returned to Cadiz within days. It's resting place is in the mud in front of the old Arsenal of Havana harbor. See more on my blogsite volsminiatures.blogspot.com

Excellent looking ship, Vol! It's no nice to see someone else modeling the Spanish, especially one of my favorite vessels. Very nice backdrop for the photo as well. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you all for the nice comments.

Ditto,
Yes I use Rod's booklet rigging guide (now, after Rory couldn't take seeing all of my mistakes anymore and gifted me a copy!) I use fly tieing thread that I pick up at fly fishing shop. It comes in a multitude of colors and thicknesses and is inexpensive. I have tried just about everything else, but like this best. The ratlines are just mesh I picked up at Hancock Fabrics a couple of years ago and can't get anymore.

Nightmoss,
Thanks, but I still think yours is better.

Regards,
Vol

Vol,
I love her. I'm glad you re-did her. Don't hate her or the killer book. I will write soon. Life is getting in the way. By the way, it was friendship not your so called mistakes.
Be safe
Rory

Beautiful work Vol, and perfect rigging as usual. A very formidable looking ship! That's an awesome painting you posted too. – James

I know Rory, and you know I know. I just like to let everyone know what a great guy you are for gifting me that book.

Thanks James. One of these days I will paint a hull to match one of yours! There are lots of really good paintings of Spanish ships on link
This site is in spanish but can be translated with Chrome. Every ship of the period is listed, with histories, and many have paintings, plan layouts, etc.

Vol, your Santa Ana remains the best. Remember, I made a major mistake on the bowsprit. And there's still controversy concerning whether she really was black and red at Trafalgar, which is how I painted her?

Vol, James, Jim,
Look you three. You are the best that I know and am glad to call you lot friends. You are all different in styles, but are so good. I love all three of you as friends and modelers.
Be safe
Rory

Likewise Rory!

Beautiful work. Although it took me five minutes to figure out that 'SOL' stood for 'Ship of the Line.'
