Hi guys,

Back in the day I read all the Tom Clancy, Larry Bond, Harold Coyle, Ralph Peters etc books on hypothetical WW3 scenarios.

Am just reading a new book though "Armageddon's Song Stand To" which is excellent.

Made me think how many other WW3 type novels have been published in the past 5-10 years that I may have missed?

Any reocmmendations, especially from people who liked the books from Ralph Peters, Larry Bond and the original TOm Clancy's (especially Red Storm RIsing)

Red Storm Rising was awesome. It was the only book that I was able to read in less than a week. I borrowed it from a friend at work after he told me about it. The next thing you know that book floated around the job for weeks with everyone wanting to read it.

Along a similiar line, based on the period from '45 to '47, which is not the standard Cold War period

"The Red Gambit" by Colin Gee (spelling?) is a series of three books – Basically, the Red Army doesn't stop moving westward and is confronted by the Allies (joined by portions of the Wehrmacht).

First Clash was not written as a novel, but a training aid for the Canadian Army, but its fictional account reads like a novel.

There's Ian Slater's series of books, but they're pretty cheesey IMO. There's one called something like "Iron Tigers" about the US vs. the Soviets and Saudis in the Middle East.

There's also lots of naval and air stuff too, from Dale Brown to Patrick? Robinson.

Thanks guys all good ideas.

Some of these I have read, but the Harvey Black books and the Red Gambit books look especially interesting.

The book Andy suggested can be found on amazon for 7 dollars. I will get it…as soon as I get to the bottom of the current reading pile.

My all time favorite is Team Yankee

Armageddon's song was an excellent read, I have just bought 2 and 3 in the series.
I am buying in the UK but are costing about $13 USD which is a little steep but they are worth it. $7 USD is a steal.

Team Yankee was fun but seemed they lived a little bit of a charmed life to me.

I am not sure where my old copy of "the 3rd world war" is but just found that there was a sequel to it, the untold story, so ordered both to read together. Not read that book for well over 20 years.

If any of you guys are less luddite than me and like Kindles, the Armageddon Song books are VERY cheap in the UK and the US on Amazon as kindle purchases.

Don't know why, i tried, but I just get on better with real paper :)
