WARNING POSSIBLE SPOILER!! Looks like a serious case of sibling rivalry: YouTube link This miniseris may not be historically accurate but I enjoyed it and even my wife did – some good female characters for her to get into. |

Looks like good fun and I shall look forward to watching it, but I really have to be 'that person'. Sorry. Why form shieldwall and then charge as a disorganised rabble? It does not make sense and stops me suspending my disbelief. Actually, that sort of thing usually has me shouting at the television. Ah well

Good show. Wish they would get a new costume designer. How come The Vikings never wear armor? |

Actually as it was mentioned in a comment and I rewatched it to see
he gets the shaft and not the axe. |

I enjoy the show a lot, but it is sort of a guilty pleasure. It is one of the best viking shows/movies out there, but sadly it has little to challenge it, and it wouldn't take much to do so. I study the culture and the history of the period as my other hobby, and some things are very well done, but others make me nuts. I am with you wukong on the shield wall thing. I would have been much more impressed if they had done two static shield walls with pulse charges, and men trying break the lines, rather than this disorganized cluster *( after giving the order. But all that said, until something about the period that is better comes along, it will have to do and I will enjoy it. |

People complain about the lack of armor, but this the early Viking period, and Scandinavia was known as being poorer than other parts of europe. And my reading suggests that armor in the dark ages was reserved for the wealthy and those who could "acquire" it. |

I love the way they are all allergic to wearing helmets. |

Ok James, now I am curious, what are the good (accurate) and bad points? I am a casual Dark Ages follower, so there was little that jumped out at me. |

Well they got the lack of swords right
:) and the units heading into the attack at a full run and braking up before contact is right. ( It takes a lot of training to keep a formation in a charge) ( and a charge speed down to a slow jog) |

@Pan Ok so how come the Jarl and King of Sweden don't wear any armor and no one, not even the Jarls/kings bodyguards wear any either? And I've seen the season two trailer and Ragnar and his men still wear no armor even now that they are sponsored by the king. I'm sorry but they weren't that poor, and the Saxons In the show are covered in armor so this is a conscious decision by a costume designer more influenced by GoT and LOTR movies than history. |
