Actually the structures are the most impressive part of the diorama.

Very nice!!

I have always marveled at well-painted flats. It takes serious painting skills to make them look good.

What I do on figs is basically 3D colouring in – stay inside the lines and an average-at-best painter like myself can get an acceptable result. Well, acceptable to me of course. Others have higher standards. Flats though, need to look like paintings to look good at all.

Thanks for posting.

I've heard that from people too… that the flats are much more difficult to paint. Still…. its those toy soldier books I read as a kid, with their pictures of antique miniatures (many flat) that I sometimes think of.

The colors of the walls look perfect in that.

That is an amazing thing to have constructed – I really like the look of flats as well, and the choice of them to populate the scene works well for me. I think it's because the structures are so "flat" in themselves – large areas of wall, acting as a backdrop as much as a distinct part of the diorama.

COuld someone with an Art History background turn that into a meaningful paragraph ? wink

Nice! flats really do have a charm all of their own. the city walls are impressive as well.

Yuk! I hope the owner of that 'drum' doesn't move in next door to me with his fancy yellow and blue colour scheme.

That is lovely! Flats are very underrated, and I think this shows that they aren't necessarily the poor cousins of the miniatures we're used to seeing.

That looks great, reminds me of an Uncle Duke spectacle with the added bonus of the figures being flats. I am humbled again by others fantastic work.
