I just received an order of excellently-designed and produced acrylic building kits, which I'm very much looking forward to assembling. Unfortunately, the laser-cut acrylic stinks to high heaven! Does anyone have a tried-and-true method of getting rid of the horrible smell? Vinegar, lemon juice, baking soda, blood of a virgin unicorn drawn by the light of the harvest moon…? There was a laser-cut MDF kit in the box, as well, so maybe the smell originated from there, but either way, I need to get rid of it!

Thanks!

Not to derail this topic, but who makes laser cut acrylic buildings?

Crazy, i've never had acrylic smell, but the MDF does smell like burning MDF…

I would imagine just dish washing soap and water would do the trick.

The acrylic does smell for a bit. If it was sealed in a bag right after cutting then it might have some odor but it usually dissipates rather quickly. Leave it out for a few hours. MDF just stinks like burnt wood and you can fix that by sealing the wood.

Also don't use soap and water on the MDF… bad idea :)

@Caesar – not sure about what the OP had, but Gamecraft makes some buildings in acrylic (I have some 6mm).
