I've been tempted to start gaming with Saga after a demo game at a convention. It's clearly a rather fun skirmish wargame.

One of my gaming friends just bought the box set (rules, cards etc) & we were discussing building a number of the small warbands needed to play it.

The standard forces are, of course, Saxons, Normans & Vikings: all easily done in 1/72 plastic.
I said I'd like to do either Picts or Welsh. Now Picts are definitely impossible ( I don't really like either set available & neither caters for a leader or household troops, both needed).

However, after going through various sets on PSR, I'm thinking Dark Age Welsh are impossible too.

A force would need archers, spearmen, a few better equipped warriors with swords & a leader, probably in helm & armour.

Any ideas?

The Airfix / HaT Robin Hood set contains a number of figures which just shout out "Welsh".

Leaders wouldn't look so very different from their English or Scots near neighbours.

Unless everything has to be plastic, you can supplement your plastics with a few metals from Irregular or someplace.
