Hey all,

What books do you recommend with OOBs, maps, etc.? Hard to tell on amazon…

I haven't found anything that's really been all inclusive yet, though i do like the Osprey book which covers off some details nicely. Also I've found Google Books to be a gold mine! It seems that a number of veterans kept notes and published memoirs which are all now in the public domain and available for download. I've had a number on my e-reader (which has a dead battery or I'd have more titles). But I seem to recall enjoying this one…I'd suggest running a search at google books and seeing what else you can find…

Mahon's book is a nice start. I have that one and Buker's book, Swamp Sailors of the Seminole War. The combined bibliography of the three (including the Osprey) should be enough to keep you hunting until Kingdom come.

The tough part is OOBs and maps for specific actions. Just because Taylor or whomever brought a thousand troops to an area, doesn't mean they were all involved.

And it's rather a bit tricky to find out how many Seminoles were actually engaged as well.

Not very helpful I suppose…

Chris Kimball has a nice little book on all the engagements in the Seminole Wars along with the 1st & 2nd Creek Wars along the GA/AL border

I have the old Frontier Miniatures booklet retyped and expanded, and with a set of rules in MS Publisher format if anyone is interested. I was hoping to find the original author or someone with Frontier connections to give me approval to reprint the work, but after a few years of searching no luck.

PM me with your email address if you would like a copy sent to you, or email me at preds81.ds at gmail.com
