Gents. Can anyone tell me what kind of armored car is seen in this photo? link Bonus points if you can tell me anyone who makes it in 28mm. Thanks! |

Its a Jeffery Quad, possibly part of the 8th Armoured Car Company. |

I like the Jeffrey Quad! When I created "the Loon", a comic book character fighting Nazi's in Montreal in WW2. I gave him a black J Quad as his "Loonmobile"! Although, nobody in the story actually calls it that

I love Jefferys! Some trivia: Rambler became Jeffery became Nash became AMC became the Jeep-Eagle division of Chrysler. Here's a nice big photo of the armored car in your photo:
Note that those curved structures on the front are wirecutters, not funky exhaust pipes. I'm not aware of any 28mm model, but Anvil Mountain Models sells the McKenzie Iron & Steel line of 1/48 trucks for model railroads, including several versions of the Jeffery/Nash Quad: link
They aren't cheap, though, and you'd still have to scratchbuild the body (not too difficult with all of those flat panels). Here's an inexpensive 1/35 card model that you could scan to fit your 28mms and either make in paper or sheet plastic: link And an excellent construction article by the designer of the card model: link |
