Over the past few years, it's become apparent that I need more terrain for the Adepticon Necromunda tournaments, so this year I decided to throw together some new terrain pieces from odds and ends I had left from prior projects. They all still need to be properly painted but I thought I'd share.

Collapsed Dome Walls

Bulkhead Structure

Looking great!

I noticed you have re-bar poking out of thr bulkhead walls. If they are a rigid wire, you might consider removing them. I had them in my ruined city pieces until the umpteenth injury occurred: punctures, scratches, pokes under nails, and cuts.

Nice to see some collapsed dome terrain, which is what I imagine a lot of the underhive to be composed of. Everyone seems to do the usual industrial metal structure stuff.

I agree: I like these a lot, and they're a refreshing change to the usual 'future gothic' stuff! Regarding the wire, which I think adds a lot to look of the terrain pieces, I found on a similar project that rounding the ends of the wire with a file made them safer to handle. YMMV, and all that.

Good stuff!

If you still want the look of exposed re-bar without the tetanus shots you could use a thick fishing line.

Very nice and quite different.

Another option would be 'fuse wire' as we call it in blighty – sort of malleable wire that can be bent twisted etc but is fairly blunt to touch.

Thanks all.

Per the exposed rebar – these are all paper clips cut horizontally with wire snips, so there's little puncture hazard. Additionally I covered the rebar and the foamboard with a few coats of acrylic gesso to seal it, which has the added benefit of slightly rounding the tips of the rebar with thickened gesso.

Thought I'd share some of the initial work I did for my Necromunda terrain way back in 2007, since this was before I started my blog.

Hurray, more terrain! Going back over these builds actually makes me want to track down some more bulkheads and expand my collection even further.

The third and final retrospective post. Check back for work on the current batch and I'll share the fate of all these old pieces once they are complete.

Just doing some small scatter terrain pieces between jobs right now, inspired by Borderlands. Enjoy!

Very nice.

A happy accident can sometimes make a piece better than planned. Originally, I had planned for these pools to just have the larger bubbles (made from ping-pong balls and hot glue droplets) arranged in semi-transparent pools. While I was mixing the gloss medium and paint to form the pool's surface, I stirred too quickly and made the mixture foamy. Not thinking, I added this to the piece, hoping the bubbling would dissipate – which it didn't – before drying.

Well, some things are happy accidents like the caustic pools….and some things don't turn out the way you'd like. These modular canals were basically one big experiment to see just how far I could take the gloss medium-as-water technique. The answer was not this far.

They're finished! I have to say I'm really proud of these collapsed dome walls considering their cheapness (basically free 2" foamboard, some bitz from the box, and 3mm MDF bases) and quick turn-around time (~6 weeks, alongside many other projects).

Out frigging standing, love your work Sir!

How much time have you put into these projects? Where do you get your inspiration?
